are you obsessed with being tan?

i'm pretty tan brown all year round so i can't be obsessed. i have a friend who always tells me she is busy working on her tan. are you guys busy working on your tan? how important is your tan to you? more important than cancer? why do so many white girls lives revolve around this?

Nah. I spend a lot of time out in the sun during the summer, so I get tan, but it's not really a top concern. Then again, I'm a guy. What I do love about the sun is that it enhances the natural red highlights in my nearly-black hair, which makes me look sexy and alluring. eyebrowes.gif

Funny story about tanning, though. In college I had a friend who was Indian (Bengali, to be exact) so she had darker skin. One time at a frat party a guy asked her, "Do you go tanning a lot?"

I'm the palest Mexican ever. I don't know how people just lay there and do nothing for 3 hours. Or get into tanning beds, because I think that would scare the shit out of me.

Wish I were tanner, it would prevent me from being sunburned after thirty minutes of sun exposure. That and I'm fairly pale. Oh well I guess it's in fashion to be pale huh?

I've always wanted to know if black guys could tan. Can you get blacker then you already are? Today I went to a pool party so I got tan. Really it only takes one day for me to get tan and then I'm dark brown for the rest of the summer, with the occasional bike ride to burn off some more skin cells. I have a great fear of getting burned though because I'm pretty scared that my skin will be more wrinkly when I'm older and than I may get skin cancer.

people can get blacker. i get blacker in the summer. i've never had extreme tan lines like white people can get, but there's been noticeable difference i think from color of my thigh that doesn't get sun exposure vs the color of my lower legs in the summer.

I'm already pretty tanned for a Chinese person from spending a lot of time outdoors when it's warm and sunny. It helps prevent sunburns, since I've only been seriously/painfully sunburned a handful of times since the summer of 2003, when my back got burned from not reapplying sunscreen at the beach. I don't wear sunscreen when I go out in the summer, but it takes at least two to three hours of intense exposure to the sun before I start to burn. I have friends whose skin is so pale, it sometimes look bluish gray; they only burn, tan a little bit afterward, and then go back to being pale not long after that.

I'm paranoid about skin cancer, so I'm very anti tanning. I wear spf-whatever all year round (Hawaiian Tropic smells the best, in my opinion). My moisturizer (face) always has an spf component as well.

Especially with Korean women, lol. You might already know that it's because in ancient Asia, being pale meant you were rich enough not to have to do manual labor outdoors as peasants did. I personally like being tan, but that's just a personal preference that many Asians don't share.

I'm pretty much a vampire all year round. I get sunburn even if I'm in the shade so I tend to avoid the sun a lot. I don't go out of my way to get color, if it happens then whatever. If the sun is real strong I'll apply sunblock a few times a day and I'll end up getting some color any way... but if I don't apply any sunblock then I will end up with 2nd degree burns (which I've had before)

Ouch, that's one of the downsides of being a redhead; you burn so easily. :( But that's how you can always tell that a redhead has an artificial tan, when she looks bronzed and it's strange with her hair color. Your fair skin complements your hair color well. :D

First day of pool. Be back in a week a different demographic.

Ahaha, my one Cuban friend lifeguards at a beach in our hometown and he said he pretty much turns black by the end of the summer. No farmer's tan for him, that's for sure.

Do you burn that easily or are you just super-cautious?

I use 70 for my face If I don't have makeup on and 30 for my body but that's really only if I plan on swimming since that's the only time I think about it.

When I go out running this year I think I will be more cautious then last since I did burn a few times.

The Target nearest to me had the spray on stuff 3 for $10. Score. It does run out fast though. I never let anyone else use it lol
