Do you jam to anything when you sleep? Can you sleep in complete silence? Do you play relaxing sounds / music to help you go to sleep?

I can't sleep in quiet, at all. I always have to play something I enjoy listening to to help me drown out the 'sound of silence' and get to sleep.

Without music or background noise that I'm familiar with, I'll hear little cricks and noises and I'll try to pinpoint what and where they are and then I'll begin to think about it and then I can't sleep. :(

I used to listen to Radiohead to fall asleep. And then I just moved on to recently bought albums.

But I usually just fall asleep in silence.

pitch black and no sound is ideal for me. I used to like a TV on or something because I hear voices and music when it's nothing but silence but now I prefer it.

I like to listen to Rachmaninoff or other classical music sometimes, but nothing energetic.

Kind of similarly, I used to have music set as my alarm - specifically, "Ramses, Bringer of War" by Nile. After a week of leaping out of bed with a near-on heart attack from the sudden blasting of war drums and cacophonic roars every morning I decided certain genres and my sleeping time should be kept as divided as possible.

Wait, I just made that sound awesome.

I get distracted very easily, especially by music I really like, so that's definitely a no for me when I'm trying to sleep. White noise, on the other hand, doesn't bother me. I consider that to be paid programming at night, my brothers yelling at each other, cars outside, rain/storms.. I can sleep when it's really loud somehow. I guess ambient sounds/music would be okay.
