When you have a conversation with somebody, do you tend to keep your eyes on them or do you let your eyes wander or do you glance at them every so often then glance away?

I am TERRIBLE at keeping eye contact. It seems like most of the people I talk to are scarily good at it, and when my eyes wander they'll kind of follow my eyes to see what I'm looking at. I'll be right in the middle of the conversation with them, totally paying attention and talking still, but I can't seem to focus on just their eyes. sad.gif

^ LOL, I do that, too. I think it creeps some people out when I first meet them.

^I have been known to intimidate people during job interviews haha. I have a very intense stare to begin with, so it doesn't make it any better that I stare people eye to eye.

If I'm comfortable with someone then I'll always look them in the eye. However if I'm in an uncomfortable situation or I'm not familiar with the person I'm talking to I will most likely try to avoid eye contact.

Even if I know someone really well I don't really like to look them straight in the eyes because I feel it's kind of awkward. Like I'm interrogating them or something lol. But I will make eye contact. Especially if it's a serious conversation.

i make pretty good eye contact, but my problem is that i get distracted by people walking around nearby, so i'll occasionally glance around.

This. But then I worry that the person I'm talking to thinks I'm not interested in the conversation, so I tryyyyy to keep my eyes fixed on theirs. And then it gets way too awkward and I have to look someplace else.

But then again, I do get alot of complaints about me not paying attention ermm.gif

i don't have a problem keeping eye contact, but when i know the other person gets uncomfortable with it, i try to soften the intensity of my 'stare' and/or just look around once in a while at random objects.

I think it depends on the person. I usually keep eye contact & then glance way every now and then...

One thing I forgot to mention, it seems like a lot of people tend to get freaked out when I can't look them in the eyes for too long. They make all these assumptions about it, like I'm uncomfortable or lying. It's not anything like that, I just don't feel comfortable staring them in the face when I'm talking to them. I do tend to look at them when they talk to me, though.

It depends who I'm talking to. Chances are that I'll make direct contact, makes the conversation more serious.
