1. It has pretty low quality. I also think you made it a bit too bright, if you know what I mean. The cropping is good though.
2. The cropping in this one isn't really good. It's actually kind of random but I guess you were trying to display that "sexiness", correct? 3. Again, this one has the low opacity white thing like in the first one, and it just looks bad. Also, the font wasn't a good choice on this one. I say get rid of that low opacity white/brightness thing. 4.This one is probably the best of the four but it looks a little, I don't know, basic. I'm not sure if you were actually able to pull of that painting look so it looks like all you did was crop some picture of her that looks kind of like a painting. Not much was done really. Overall, they're alright for a beginner, but they're not that great. ![]() |

1. Textures look pretty bad, tbh. Too "light" either lower the opacity on them or use different textures. Cropping's great though.
2. ![]() 3. It looks too "foggy" and the text's too big. 4. Probably the better ones of the bunch. Although I would have included her chin in the crop because it looks awkward. |

Try thinking of the type of style/tone/mood that you're going for in your image to pick the right font. For example, for your second icon, if you were to add text, it would be a sorta sexy, curvy looking font.
Maybe it's just the textures or something you're using that makes the image look low in quality. You should also try different Blending Modes when you add a texture. |

1. I like the cropping. The texture over the face is a bit strong. Pretty much what Natalia (manny-the-dino) said.
2. Cropping is a bit awkward. Also, on the right side of the torso, the green is really strong underneath the fabric, making it look solid. On the left side, the fabric seems transparent. Looks a bit odd to me ![]() 3. I really like the cropping here. White/opacity is too strong, and the text is a bit big. I get distracted from her face when the text overlaps it on the chin. 4. Looks pretty good. I'd use cooler tones for that particular icon image, but it's really a personal preference. Just keep practicing, and experimenting with different techniques. Typically, fonts that aren't distressed-looking or textured work well with icons. I usually use Century Gothic, Helvetica/Helvetica Neue, or a pixel font. Each designer has his/her own favorites, though. As for quality, were the original images larger than the finished icon? Sometimes when I use smaller images the quality looks off. Less of the white/opacity stuff and textures would probably help the quality as well. |

were the original images smaller? Sometimes images lose some of their quality when you make them bigger than their original size.
