Right now, I have 12 gauge plugs on both my ear lobes. I had it for 6.5 weeks now, and I'm thinking of getting acrylic 10 gauge tapers now. Should I wait longer to up my size, or what?

are you asking this question so other people know that you have piercings? we can't really say yes or no, you have to judge it yourself based on how well it's healed/healing. 6.5 should be plenty though n*gga

Hmm, do you think it's a good idea to just skip 10, and go to 8's?

QUOTE
"4.5) I think I have a blowout! What exactly is this and what do I do about it?

A blowout happens when one stretches too fast. These generally happen during or immediately proceeding (within 48hrs) a stretch. A blowout occurs when the pressure on the insides of the piercing is too great, and the hole deforms itself by twisting inside out, resulting in the "blowout," or section of tissue that appears as a flap on (generally) the backside of the piercing. There are a few things you can do to try and recover from a blowout. First a foremost, you must downsize immediately. Being stubborn and not taking this action could result in the blowout healing, which almost always requires surgery to fix. Second of all, the piercing absolutely must be treated like a brand new piercing. This means religious sea salt soaks and aftercare. Blowouts go hand in hand with tears, and most blowouts result in at least minimal tears to the lobe, so the aftercare becomes especially important."

idk man, sounds unpleasant

....

what do u suggest then to up sizes. i dont want to stay at 12's anymore. they are too small. i think it's healed. the only thing that ever occurs with them is that "stinky cottage cheese pus" that comes out now and then in the morning when i sleep on them.

After reading what Melissa posted about blowouts I'm really scared. _unsure.gif

ugh, but i really want to up my gauge sizes, cuz 12's are so unnoticeable and small. I asked my friends who have gauges, and they started off with 16's, and went up sizes once a week and are now at 0's. They didn't wait that long, but I don't know..I've had these 12's for 6 weeks.

Hmm I see. f*ck it I'm doing it. Btw TJ, u seem to know alot about gauges. Would u know how to reduce that nasty stinky pus that comes out.

12's are 2.0 mm
10's are 2.5 mm
8's are 3.2 mm

Lol hell naw i aint upping every 2 weeks. I think i'm sticking with these tens i'm going to up for maybe 2 months. and decide if i want 8's or not. i don't wanna stretch too much, and also i have small ears, so big gauges would look weird on me.

yeah the pus in general. i hate it lol. i sleep on white pillow sheets, and whenever i wake up theres always pus on it so nasty lol.

just do it gradually, dude. i doubt anything bad will happen going straight from 12 to 8 besides feeling kinda sore, but if it were me, i'd go up one level at a time.

I don't know why you're making such a big deal about gauges, especially at 10/12s.

You should always go up a size using some sort of tapers (small on one side, larger on the other.) Wait a few days until it doesn't hurt to touch it, or take it out. And put Neosporin on a cotton swab, and clean it out. And after it heals after a week, start taking it out and washing it when you're in the shower, and then when it's completely healed, you can try and put the plugs in with no problemo. This worked for me until I got up to 00, because I decided they're stupid and I took them out.

By the way, my gauges never smelled. I cleaned them at least once every two days. When my holes got big enough to actually stick the cotton swab through, (at around 6 or 4), I put neosporin on the swab and kept twisting it around. And I never had any odors. thumbsup.gif
