Alright so my site is hosted by http://000webhost.com
Im currently using http://subliminalgreen.net46.net as a "tester" for cutenews. I'd like the cutenews info. to go where it says "WELCOME" &for it to popup there on the homepage. Im completely lost right now. I downloaded the cutenews files from http://cutephp.com &extracted all the files. Within my control panel, there is a file manager. &i upload all my php files/pages within a "public_html" directory. That is the only place i can upload my files. Is that also where i should upload all the cutenews files? or should i create a new directory within that one? As of now, i have a "base.php" & "index.php" uploaded. Any help on how i would go about this? |

Yeah, I would recommend that you create a new directory for the cutenews files. Also, you have to remember to CHMOD the /data/ directory of cutenews and you also have to CHMOD all the files/folders under the /data/ directory of cutenews to 777 so that certain permissions can be overwritten. You might need a FTP program for that. The FTP program I use is FileZilla. After that, go and install cutenews by typing in the address to the cutenews directory.
Next, once you installed, type up some news. Then, go back to your home page and add this code in there: CODE <?PHP include("path/to/show_news.php"); ?> Now, save and check it out! ![]() |

^thanks
![]() but, i was wondering if it mattered what the name of the directory was. So, after i name the directory _______ , i upload all the files there. Then i CHMOD all of them to 777. &i already installed FileZilla. Is the FileZilla needed to CHMOD? because my file manager on 000webhost allows me to CHMOD them. If that is so, then would i even need filezilla? thanks for your help again [: |

^Oh, well if you can already CHMOD them with your file manager, then yeah, you don't need FileZilla. But don't CHMOD all the files, just CHMOD the /data/ directory and the files/folers under the /data/ directory. And yeah, CHMOD to 777.
Yep, you can name the directory whatever you want. Like mine is http://www.mikeplyts.net/mikeplyts/cutenews as to where the /mikeplyts/ part is the directory where I uploaded all of the cutenews files. |

Yeah, but Cutenews can be more stable if you just add and adjust codes.

^ Eeehhh maaaybe not so much, but I'm gonna say that 99% of the people using CuteNews know absolutely nothing (or next to zero) abut PHP and coding (most people think that knowing includes makes them masters). If they did actually now PHP, they'd most likely be writing their own scripts in the first place. FanUpdate is just better off the bat, no tweaking required. As soon as you start messing with CN coding, you're just using it as a base to develop your own script.
