I remember seeing one of his videos on BET. BET uncut as a matter of fact. You know the one where woman have their asses out and stuff. Sounds like a mainstream artist to me.

*waits for a response like: "He was only on BET to save baby polar bears from starving in Antarctica."*

He's never been broadcast on mainstream radio... except for his home town. And I don't think he's ever been on MTV either.

When "Imma Tell" dropped, it had Hot97 airtime. When you get Hot97 airtime, there's no denying being mainstream.

In early 2007, Tech N9ne was featured on the MTV program I'm From Rolling Stone. In December 2007, Tech N9ne's song "Caribou Lou" was featured on an episode of MTV's My Super Sweet 16, during the scene in which the birthday girl received her car.[13] In summer 2008, Tech N9ne's song "Earthquake" was featured on an episode of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew in which the crew had to visually convey the title of the song in their performance.[14]

AHHH!!!

WTF?! How do you go from talking mad shit, to nonchalantly dismissing something you could easily argue about based on the views you've recently expressed on this forum in comparing mainstream with the underground?! Argue, goddamnit. f*cking argue. Get in The Lounge. NOW.

Don't get me wrong.. I sort of feel hurt that Tech N9ne is showin himself to the mainstream. The only time I heard him affiliate himself with mainstream was on some type of show to compete against Twista in speed of lyrics mellow.gif

I haven't watched MTV/BET and Tech has never mentioned going into BET or MTV or even HOT97 o.O;

So I'm completely clueless about all this.

Have you ever had that drink? Right before I quit.. I stopped drinking beer and only drank Caribou Lou. 3 parts Pineapple juice + 1 part 151 + 2 part Malibu Coconut rum.

That would get you twisted... you forget your whole night the next day.

laugh.gif This is why I said Arjuna checkmated him in the other thread. His argument is basically this

mainstream arist = wack
underground artist = superb

mainstream artist = rap and sing about same content
underground artist = its different every time, so innovative.

However there are wack artists in the underground and mainstream just as there are good artists in both underground and mainstream. Also, I would like to add whether its mainstream or underground, there isn't a subject that hasn't been touched on so its all cliche. If I was a underground artist and rapped about the video game inFamous, it would be unique right? However, despite it being a unique topic, it's only a sub-topic of thousands of rap video game songs already out there. Therefore, I've come to the conclusion that he one of those dudes that will stop supporting his artists if they become mainstream. Not because they stopped putting out good music, but because he doesn't want the artist he likes to gain more exposure. nod.gif

laugh.gif @ this dude trying to get off the subject quick after telling someone to graduate from BET only to be hit by karma. Yeah you're right, I need to graduate from BET despite the classical music I listen to having far more complex musical structure than any beat your fav artists have ever rapped over and has been proven to stimulate the brain more than any other genre of music.

*waits for an argument about how Tech N9ne infiltrated mainstream to change people's thoughts and views about underground rap and how it benefits starving Lions in Africa.*

Ya that's what tech's really popular for here in South Florida. He always shows up at a club unannounced and just starts free styling or raps a few of his tracks, then he causes a huge f*ckin massive parade's worth of people to gather in the streets lol..

I luv a mofo from KC, named Tech N9ne cool.gif

pfft barely, you're not gonna walk the street hearin too many niggas sayin "you hear that tech?" most of the people you talk too wont know who he is.... period. at least the people that generate most of the revenue for hip hop as a whole. unless your saying by technicality, because his cd is indeed sold at your local bestbuy, he is mainstream. but its still kind of "meh" considering many many people don't who he is or what he's capable of.

wayne is mainstream... but tech?

*plays rednose by techn9ne*

"I feel like the industry givin me vivid stupidy
When they distribute these fictitious sissies
When I rip it so serious and wickedly"

personally i feel if tech really went mainstream, i mean if he REALLY went mainstream...wayne would not even be uttered out of any child's mouth. and obviously that has not happened.

yeah, he has a huge following.

but pfft, i bet you flo rida has more people at his show. and who's been in the game longer? you gotta keep in mind tech has been in the game for AWHILE to generate the fans he has. if he was TRULY mainstream, he would have that amount with one single 6 years ago
