I find it increasingly annoying the sheer amount of people who feel offended by the Vice President's actions and his company.

Here's an example quote, from my friend Jess (a staunch anti-Bush liberal):

QUOTE
Yeah and companies like the one run by our VP are reaping all the nebenfits of the war, which is a bunch of crap.

And I keep hearing comments along these lines, and I've finally had enough.

I know the ideology of the democrat is to support the individual working man, and to protect the establishment of small businesses. And I wish them all the best when pursuing that ideal, but give me a break...

Would the democrats of the United States suggest we take small, private/family owned businesses and ship them to Iraq to build an entire country? There are two main facts you're simply going to have to deal with...

1) The industry is all about capability. Small businesses lack the capability to handle such a grand task. The honest truth is that companies such as GE, Halliburton, and Dresser Industries are the infrastructure companies who can handle projects of this magnitude, not "Big Jim's electric", or "Johnson Family Natural Gas".

2)Cheney makes money in Iraq, and hundreds of other places, too. ***NEWSFLASH*** dit, dit, dit: Cheney's making money here, too. You know, chances are that when your house is warmed up by gas, your business lit up from a power grid, or you even fill up your SUV at Texaco, Halliburton or Dresser Industries played a big part in the pump existing. You put money in Cheney's pocket everyday, and that's been the situation for years. We call that a monopoly, which is a subdivision of capitalism; the financial basis of this country. Get over it, and let the men do their jobs. Heaven forbid they make some money...

As if the VP's company making money off the war is even a substantial issue, anyway. You don't like it? Don't stay here.

That's one of your freedoms, too. I suggest you utilize it.

yeah, i'm angry at all of this bs "RICH MAN IN THE WHITEHOUSE" garbage. John Kerry isn't the poorest guy in the world. He married Teresa Heinz. KETCHUP! And Edwards father was a mill owner. And these guys are saying they're fighting for the middle class.

Yeah the deomocrats are for the poor man but they are the same ones wasting money, so are they really for the poor man?

The Republicans are for the rich and the Democrats are for the poor. So with that ebing said i shouldn't vote for either party sine they are not really for the middle class man.

The difference between most democrats and most republicans is so small one could easily be crushed to death in between.

The six poorest states all are republican--the democrats are seen by many poor as out of touch aristocrats more converned with high minded idealism than actually helping the poor.

I just find it an ignorant argument, and one that should hold no bars on whether you vote Democrat/Republican in 2004.

1. Why exactly should you give a damn?

2. He owns one of the largest and most productive energy companies in the world, Dresser Industries.

What is the Independence Party?

Do you mean the Constitution Party? The Libertarian Party? Those are the two things that are closest.

Listen here, oil tycoon, there are several subdivisions of the "energy" title.

Maybe, for one, if you knew what the hell you were talking about, you might do your homework and realize that without companies like Dresser Industries, your teenie boppin' ass wouldn't have a car to take to the mall on the weekends, heat in your home, or power at your daddy's business.

QUOTE

Well, I'm in the same boat there cap'n, except I have to do it next year, so don't victimize yourself. I'm on the track to Kansas University, and should the draft be reinstated (which you've assumed already has), it'd be a big pointless operation. Which is exactly why it won't...

QUOTE
fense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told reporters Tuesday he sees no need for a draft. He said the military is managing to attract enough skilled recruits without one.

Rumsfeld: "No need for a draft"

There are so many volunteer soldiers out of high school alone, we haven't the necessity. Keep your pants on, hothead.

QUOTE
do you want to know why i should give a damn? because this is MY country and much as it's YOUR country, and it's in the hands of an idiot male cheerleader.

I never challenged that. Oh, and that "idiot male cheerleader's" military actions have literally crippled Al-Qaeda. If you desire the non-partisan proof of that, ask away.

QUOTE
do you want to know why i should give a damn? because i am a citizen of the united states of america.

Me too, wow.

QUOTE
do you want to know why i should give a damn? because it my right as a citizen to question my leaders, and to see what the hell they're screwwing about to earn a million dollars a day.

Good for you, question them all day.

It's my right to ask you where the hell you're coming up with this million dollars per day, and why you chose that number.

As well, to wonder if you think the soldiers have anything to do with the rebuilding of the natural gas system in Iraq, because if you do, you're sadly mistaken.

It's called outsourcing.

As well, it's really not that complicating for us to exit Iraq. We're simply handling the anti-American riot which wishes us dead. There are two groups in Iraq, those that want to kill us, and those that do not.

We have to contain the former before we can jet.

I don't know if you're up with the Times, but the U.S. returned sovereignty to Iraq on June 28th.

Yes, and it's your right to be wrong, and I respect that.

Congratulations, I applaud you.

Oh, and I just had a few more things to say concerning this quote.

Lindsey Williams wrote a book in 1980 called The Energy Non-Crisis based on his eye-witness acount during the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline.

The book quotes,

QUOTE
"All of our energy problems could have been solved in the '70s with the huge discovery of oil under Gull Island, Prudhoe Bay, Alaska," Williams said. "There is more pure grade oil there than in all of Sau di Arabia. Gull Island contains as much oil and natural gas as Americans could use in 200 years."

Environmentalists have been urging to close down any further tamperings with the Alaskan environment.Well, the book continues with:

QUOTE
"The Alaska Fish and Game Depart ment just did a study on the por cupine car i bou in Prudhoe Bay. The size of the herds has increased since 1969 by 35 percent. The pipeline area is a protected designation and the caribou have figured this out. They have migrated into this area for protection," Lawler [ARCO oil production manager] said.

Listen, sadolakced, our government isn't stupid, in fact, it's quite the contrary.

It's called exploitation. We use up the rest of the world's oil, before tapping into our own.

The war's not about oil -- if we desperately needed it, we'd look in our backyard.

what exactly is this war about then?

i'm sure you'll go with the white house's official version.

and so will i, and show you how screwwed it is.

" The income tax return shows that the Cheneys owe federal taxes for 2003 of $253,067 on taxable income of $813,226. During the course of 2003 the Cheneys paid $258,779 in taxes through withholding and estimated tax payments. The Cheneys elected to apply the resulting $5,712 tax overpayment to their 2004 estimated tax payments."

so that's 800K income- ok, but let's look at what cheny has bought with 800K a year, taxed for 250 K and donating 300K (also from the white house) leaving him with about 250K .

250K... now what does he have?

properties in washington, iowa, virgina, texas...

he is also a board member of many companies. unlisted income is what i guess, or maybe the land was a gift from the various oil companies.

So what? He has the money for them.

Wake up man, $800,000 dollars per year is small in the gene pool in the United States.

My uncle owns six hospitals across Kansas and Missouri and grosses over $5,000,000 dollars per year.

Hell, my cousin Shawn Estes pulled in millions playing in the MLB.

And that's my immediate family...

Throw up $800,000 per year next to the rest of the country, and you'd be laughed at.

Even though I don't know where your numbers are from.

QUOTE

The war was, is, and will remain to be about crippling the organization responsible for destroying our two most towering skyscrapers on the East coast even further, and by eliminating the Baath party in Iraq, one of the most highly-linked organizations to Al-Qaeda itself, despite the two being friend or foe, we've succeeded in that.

I just find it ludicrous to base your vote this year on how much money our vice president has, that is if you can vote.

You can't, I can't, but I have the sense to decipher what is and what isn't a decent reason for my vote to sway to the left. And that is most certainly not legitimate enough for that.
