Vector Smooth, I was thinking of a new site layout to make Rating Options

So I was kind of in the mood to design a whole new header for a new site layout I want to try out. I still want to try my Creative Note layout but I was still having some different ideas. I was just wondering what you guys think of this header I was working on. I'm trying to get out of my comfort zone but for now this is what I got.

I was wondering what I should add to it. Yes, I know, I used gray once again but if I don't use it, then the smileys on my blog will look bad. I guess I could try another color to go with the orange but I'm not sure. Any help or C&C is appreciated. Thanks.

Ok. But do you know what color could replace the gray without making it look bad? I can't really think of any colors that would go well with orange. *shrugs

Ok, I tried that but it didn't really give me some colors that matched with the orange and white.

still not feeling the subheader font. maybe you should try something non-italic looking? i like the graphic though, the lighter color definitely suits it better and this is different from a lot of your other work (:

SOMETHING DIFFERENT! Yay. I like it for that alone.

The only thing that bugs me is the subtitle text. I don't really like either of the fonts you picked. Everything has a clean look to it, so a handwritten font looks a little out of place to me.

Like I was thinking of probally adding something to display some of my work or something. Thanks again for all the feedback!

I like it. I think it would look good if the gray part was black and the orange borders were a little brighter and thicker (but that's just me). I also don't think the handwritten font matches too well (and the asterisk kind of bugs me for some reason xD). I think a patterned bg would be a little busy, but it depends on what it looks like. You should add like a slideshow of your layouts at the top. (:

You know what I think would be really cool? Now, it can't really be done in 5 minutes, well maybe but take your time on it, but I think you should vector some windmills. And have those little circle things going across the top in a varying size making it look like the wind.

Alright, well I updated once more. I tried adding windmills but I'm not sure I did such a great job, especially with the 'wind'. I also changed the sub-title font and added 3 little circles to the top-right corner of the main box.

Yay for something different! I like it. Your edits got better. I'm just not sure about the windmills though because when I first saw this, I got a retro vibe from it. So to me, the windmills seem random. But they're nicely done. Nice job, Mike.

Thanks guys. Haha, the windmill idea came from Kristina so I thought I'd try it out. Should I remove the windows? Also, should I make like the a few circles near the top containing some of my work? Idk, but I feel like really adding something to the top.

I like it! But, they need to be bigger. And the shadowing isn't quite dark enough. And the stroke is lookin' a wee bit a-pixelated. But, nooo. You pretty much created what I was thinking!

It could just use a sky. And some clouds. And a hot air balloon. Haha, just an idea. Or, like, 4.

Seeeee! Here we go! This is turning out awesome. I think, though, you might be able to get away with putting a pattern up behind your sky and clouds. Just lower the opacity down to about 20% and make sure it's a pattern that'll match your color scheme but awesomeeeeeeee!
