i'm looking for something really basic and simple, like Notepad for Windows. for some reason, textedit isn't working properly for me. anything i save to "html" and upload shows up in rich text format for some reason.

idk, help with textedit or a new recommendation would be appreciated.

thanks :D

I use TextMate. It's the best f*cking editor I've ever used, on any platform, hands-down.

It's kind of pricey (39 euros, which is around $50), but if you do a lot of HTML/CSS editing, it's totally worth it. It also provides support for just about any other computer language out there.

I do live in the US -- but the author of TextMate is European (German, I believe), so he sets the price based on euros, which causes the price in US dollars to fluctuate.
