I use Citibank's student card. If you have a checking account with somebody already, ask if they have a line of low interest credit cards.

if i were you i would get a debit card first. I know a lot of people who run into major problems when they get credit cards first.

I would go with one with the lowest interest rate and finance charges AND with 0% interest for X amount of months.
I suggest you pay it off in full each month. |

Compare them and see what's going to work best for you. If you get a card because it comes with rewards, make sure they are ones that you actually use. If a card has introductory perks, make sure you look at charges and interest after that time is up. Also, make sure that they don't charge you a fee to have the card (a lot of business cards will do that). Some card companies like to be sneaky by not letting you pay the bill in full because they want the interest, make sure you avoid cards that do that.

Stick to your bank's credit card if you really need one. Stay away from credit cards right now... trust me

I have a capial one card, not bad for building credit, limit is 500 and a 40 dollar setup fee, my monthly payments are about 10-16 dollars a month, but I usually pay more than the minimum. but if you already have a checking/savings acc then I'd suggest you asking your bank for one to offer.
