So, the octopus is my favorite animal. An hour or so ago I decided to make a layout in tribute to the octopus. I've gotten this far (see image below) and I was wondering if anyone could give me some good ol' c&c or give me some ideas or something. :3 Thank you.

It looks a bit too plain. Maybe you should add a little background to the boxes so that they don't look too plain and you could probally do more with the banner.

I am well aware.

Also: I would put a watermark somewhere in the banner, because that would look cool. Maybe some washed out text in the lower right corner.

And maybe pull the content boxes away from each other.

I would use the photograph to cover up the complete background
and then some boxes that are quite see-through...plus white text!

Some boxes with a little shadow...YUMMiE ;D

I think the colors are okay, but maybe you should stuck with a purple color scheme. Purple seems like the dominant color in the photo so that should flow through the whole layout. Also, it seems rather small and way too boxy. I understand that this is the beginning, but..it's tiny. The background would take away too much attention from the layout.

Anyways. It's a great start.

I really like the picture & editing you did. Very nice. But the content area does seem a bit too boxy. And I think you should maybe use a different or lighter shade of that purple because it pops out too much, imo. But you're on the right track. flowers.gif

The watermark idea is good. :) I'll get to work on that.

I'm trying to think of a different way to compose it. Maybe rounded corners with some space in between the boxes? I'm not sure. Hm.

With the color scheme, I've been working on a couple different ones. Yeah, that needs some work. Thank you everyone. :3
