I'm considering moving this to school, but I guess it's fine here.
I was ecstatic. I got the acceptance a couple months before I expected, and I could not have been more appreciative because the more time went by the more irrationally afraid i became that I wouldn't get in anywhere I applied. It was just such a big relief to get an acceptance that I was completely thrilled. I got deferred by two schools first, and didn't have any real backups because I didn't think I needed them. And I didn't. But still, waiting freaked me out. |

I didn't really have much of a reaction. It was just like, "Oh I got in. Huh." I was way more excited when I found out I got an entrance scholarship. Which I later lost, but meh.
Maybe that's just because getting into universities is easy here. I don't know. ![]() |

To retrieve my entrance scholarship? No, because I actually didn't end up getting it; I didn't actually lose it as in dropped it somewhere. My marks at the time of the filling out my self-reported grades were higher than my actual final marks, so when I didn't have a 90+% average, they took it away.

LOL. why weren't you? Were you just mellow because you knew you were going to be accepted to college anyways with your grades and scores? Where ya live? i lived in new york but the majority of places i applied were out of state/south anyway. most places in the south (or at least ones i looked at) depended more on ACT score instead of SAT, which is easier imo. i had a high ACT score, good grades, and wasn't depending on scholarships to pay for anything, they were just an added bonus. i applied to a few places, so i figured i figured somewhere would take me. i wished it had been some big deal i coulda been really happy about and shit, but it wasn't. that'd woulda been more fun. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Keep my hopes up? I'm half way through my second year of college. I knew I'd get in, I just don't like waiting. And I applied to fairly selective schools. It didn't seem likely at all that I wouldn't have gotten in places, but after two deferrals I couldn't help being a little worried. I think the entire east coast looks at SATs. It's mostly the midwest that likes ACTs. Everyone says they're easier, but I didn't like them at all. |

It's really beyond me how someone could not get into college. It seems like you'd have to try really hard to do badly enough in high school to make that happen.
I don't mean to make it sound like I actually thought I wouldn't get in LOL. I got into 4/5. |

You know, I wasn't really that excited about going to college. I wasn't even that excited when I got accepted to grad school, because I was almost sure I'd get in anyway. But I don't really like my grad school program that much, and I'm thinking of applying to graduate creative writing or journalism programs -- so I'll be excited if that works out.

What did you felt for the very first time about going to college that accepted you? Is this why you're glad you got into college? ![]() I got into the colleges I applied to, it was just hard deciding what to do. I wanted to go out of state, but with my mother being ill I couldn't afford to make trips home. So I stayed local and used my scholarship for that. |

Wasn't excited at all, don't mean to sound arrogant but I was really just expecting to be accepted straight off the bat.
Oh actually, for Commerce which is what I'm in now, I had to go through a more complicated application process, and I ended up having to wait a few months later for my results compared to the initial acceptance to the Science program. And it's pretty competitive. So when I got THAT, I was pretty happy. Also was pretty excited to get bumped up from $2000 to $4000 scholarship. Thank you AP Calculus :D |

Yeah, I wasn't excited to get in because I knew I would for sure get into the program I wanted..I was excited when I got accepted super-early...before the early application due date had even arrived, so that was nice.

Same as JC, down here it's unheard of NOT to get accepted. It's just a matter of how much money you get once you're admitted.

honestly, getting into college wasn't that much of a struggle, trying to stay alive in college is a bit harder I would have to agree with you on that! Plus my high school has college level courses and I had to take a couple of them. So the fact that colleges know about this is a boost for acceptance letters. The vast majority of students from my high school get accepted into there first choice colleges. I even know like four people who have been accepted into Harvard and like two people who have been accepted to Yale. So really it was no bid deal when people get into colleges at my high school. So I guess to answer you question no I did not get the "blood rushing through your lungs" moment in any way. |

I wasnt all that crazy about my first school that I went to in ireland except for the fact that i would be out of the country where no one knew me and that was cool.
When i got in to CIA to finish i was f*cking excited because its the worlds finest culinary arts school. All of that just to change careers but i dont regret it |

Now, for me it's applying to grad school next year. I think that'll be much more of a rush. But I have to decide on what I want to do in life first. D:
