Hi kiddies.
Question: when you make an imagemap, instead of having the hot spot point to a URL, could you make it go to, say, a javascript function?

I was thinking along the lines of adding the popup-menu function to an imagemap so that whenever someone clicks on that hotspot, a popup info box shows up (credits, etc.). Is this possible or am i just dreaming?

You just have to make the target new. target="new" it'll make a new window pop up. Or did you mean something else?

Well, the thing is, I don't want it to go to a different page, just a javascript popup (you know those annoying things some people have with an "OK" or "cancel" button at the bottom? The ones that people have to say "Give me props!" or "propz, pleez!" or something like that. that kind of javascript.

CODE
<!-- begin code provided by createblog.com -->
<script language="JavaScript">alert("WHAT YOU WANT POP-UP TO SAY")</script>
<!-- end code provided by createblog.com -->

You don't need to download it, it's already on PSP, and there a site that you can image map it online. But if you don't have PSP or can't go online often..

Hmm... Where it says "HREF=" on the actual mapping code, try calling up the Javascript function instead of putting in a URL.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking... but would i add the <script> and </script> tags to it, or just the
CODE
<!-- begin code provided by createblog.com -->
alert("WHAT YOU WANT POP-UP TO SAY")
<!-- end code provided by createblog.com -->
part of it?

Hm. I almost figured it out. Turns out i need to use ' instead of ", and that java script: goes in front of the alert. Now I just need to figure out how to do text formatting, such as spaces, tabs, and line breaks. hmm...
