Okay so *a friend* is getting a tattoo of the city name "Portland" written in Japanese on a spot on her back. Even though this *friend* is half-Japanese, she can't read or write in it and would be extremely embarrassed to have the incorrect spelling or writing on her back!!

Another friend of my *friend's* translated "Portland" for her in Katakana, and this is the translation she gave her:

ポートランド

Now I really want to make sure that this correctly translates into "Portland" in Japanese. If it doesn't, please please please let me know. I will love you forever if you do this for me!! Thanks!

^ Since when do you read katakana?

Yeah it's how you write Portland in Japanese. It's pronounced Pootorando.

I thought that said "Bortland" at first because it looks like a ten-ten in such small font.

And yes, that's right.
