just because you like to talk does not automatically make you good at debating or making speeches.

just because you like to talk does not automatically make you good at debating or making speeches. Wrong. Speech and Debate isn't entirely about debating or making speeches. Speech and Debate has two categories: argumentation and interpretation. interpretation contains several events: dramatic, thematic, humor, exposition, impromptu, and etc. All these don't have to relate to "debating". All of these relates to talking whether it's for fun, argument, convey a story, or ANYTHING! |

But thanks anyways for automatically assuming that I'm stupid. |

lol, Yanlin, I love your short posts.
If you join Speech or Debate, hopefully no one will think that you're the annoying one who doesn't know when to shut up. One of my friends who has always been really shy was in Forensics and Debate and always went to state, so you don't have to be a "talker" to excell. |

Yeah I know that. I was keeping my response short. But thanks anyways for automatically assuming that I'm stupid. No one is assuming you're stupid. ![]() If one likes to talk, one can improve his speaking skills by joining speech and debate. There’s nothing wrong. It is a common stereotype that speech and debate is for nerds, argumentative people, hardcore speakers, and geniuses that requires high level debate & speech skills , but it's not true at all. Almost every girl generally likes to talk, but we know it doesn’t automatically make them good debaters or speech-er. again, you're not stupid (because you're smart) |

I have so much fun and go to the mall and buy cute clothes and go talk to cute boys who have drivers permits because that makes them oh my god so hot! I love fall out boy and death cab for cutie because they totally understand what i'm feeling as my parents are huge bitches to me and will only buy me a honda civic and it's not even brand new it's got 5 thousand miles on it what the hell! So lyke last night my mom dropped me off at the mall AND WHEN SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO PICK ME UP SHE WAS 5 MINUTES LATE OH MY GOD I WAS SO EMBARRASSED IN FRONT OF MY FRIENDS WHAT THE HELL THEIR PARENTS WERE ALL ON TIME! See, people can like to talk, but no matter how much you like something, you can still be shit at it. |

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/forensics
QUOTE –adjective 1. pertaining to, connected with, or used in courts of law or public discussion and debate. 2. adapted or suited to argumentation; rhetorical. –noun 3. forensics, (used with a singular or plural verb) the art or study of argumentation and formal debate. QUOTE 1. The art or study of formal debate; argumentation. 2. The use of science and technology to investigate and establish facts in criminal or civil courts of law. forensic does means arguments or debate. QUOTE lol yes i know that, there's dramatic interpretation and oral interpretation. i get that, but i mean is it called forensics or is it called acting?!? to answer your question with the given answers, it's called acting. QUOTE are there multiple names for this category of debate/speech? my school doesn't consider it forensics.. it's considered as like acting for debate/speech.. Do you mean multiple names of the official title or just literal words? Whether your school called it as forensic or not, it IS forensic. http://www.nflonline.org/Main/HomePage QUOTE and my cousins' school calls it forensics.. but isn't forensics like investigating crime scenes or bodies? nooo, it has nothing to do with speech and debate but you are somewhat right about the definition. do your homework, look through the dictionary, and research. ![]() |
