i have this really nice ralph lauren blouse (by blouse i mean long sleeved, button up) i got in nyc but i don't really know how to wear it. i was thinking tucking it into jeans and wearing a cardi, but i thought it might look grandpa-ish. i saw this though: http://www.leighton-meester.org/gallery/al...e/PDVD_0200.jpg

I think the only way it would look grandpa-ish is if you were actually a grandpa. You have to have a certain figure and stature to pull of the blouse + high waisted jeans look. i.e. if you're short and curvy it wouldn't work. But what you suggested would be cute on the right person.

Yeah and the picture doesn't work.

When in doubt, replace spaces with %20.

the shirt reaches just past my waist and it is fitted. i wasn't thinking high waisted jeans, just regular jeans with a nice belt and a cardigan. i am short but not terribly curvy.

*shrug* I think it would be cute. Preppy, if you're into that sort of look.

Imagining it with a cute leather messenger bag. Or a small purse with a long strap...ooooh.

^ yeah, that's what i was thinking! i have a really cute leather bag that goes across my body that would look nice with that. i was just thinking wearing the blouse with a gray cardigan would look old, so maybe if i get one with more colour? the blouse is light blue with some white in it - not striped but not solid.

I happen to love gray so I would be in favour of a gray cardigan. And I really think it's hard to look "old" if you're not actually old. But it's all up to you. If you're wacky like that you could wear a pretty crazy cardigan and it wouldn't be bad since the shirt + jeans would be quite subdued.

Either or. There aren't really rules. Whatever looks better. I can't really imagine it right now...I happen to like cropped-anything though. I have like 5+ cropped cardigans and jackets which I luurve.
