I think it's stupid, what people have made the term "Straight-Edge" out to be. =/

I think it's stupid only because I kept seeing "XXX" being associated with being straight edge. And when I see XXX I automatically think beer and porn, so it never made much since to me....yeah =/

I've seen only one X associated with it.

I don't really understand why someone would want to advertise their lifestyle choice. It should be apparent to people by the way you act. But for some reason, a lot of people go "straightedge" tattoos not too long ago.

like if you are really commited to staying away from alcohol, drugs..etc... then just do it, no need for a label.

I felt it was quite stupid that someone would proclaim it to the world, so when I mentioned it to my one "Scene-Kid" friend, he got all quiet and was like "Wtf I'm straight-edge."
I explained to him that he didn't brag about it, so he had no reason to be offended.

I don't normally get along with straight edge people.

They are into strange hardcore/emo music,
they don't have sex,
they don't drink alcohol,
they dont smoke weed,
and they act like little punks.

At least in TX, that is how they act.

I'm starting to hear that a lot too. I don't mind the term, it's just when people over use it. Plus the people that claim they're straight-edge usually don't stay that way for long. Take most of my friends for example, all you have to do is give them a Smirnoff and they won't turn it down.

I can't stand straight edge kids.
It's cool if you don't want to do drugs, that's a great decision to make.
if I'm with some people that I don't really know and we are doing drugs the straight edge kid will say something along the lines of "you know that's not pure, and I would never put anything that wasn't pure into my body, because I'm straight edge. You shouldn't put things that aren't pure into your body, not only is it bad for your body but it's bad for your soul....." in that im-better-than-you-because-I-choose-not-to-partake-in-drug-use voice. I can't stand that. Don't take drugs, don't have sex, don't drink, but don't think you can tell me how to live because you are straight edge.
