![]() charcoal, black and white conte crayon i got the question, "what is being welded?" a lot in critique. so for anyone interested the object being welded is a reference to some of my other 3d work. although it's not very noticeable. i didn't know what else to make the person be welding. |

Pretty nice. I think the welder's left hand could be more defined, but that's all. As for what he's welding, it just looks like the welder is welding a bunch of bricks. You didn't have a specific thing that the welder could be welding? Is that what you're saying?

I love everything about this! ... except I have to agree with ^x2 that the left hand could be more defined. =]

I agree about the left hand. But the rest of his body (excluding his right hand) isn't very defined. So I'm still a little unsure about this. Did you draw this from a reference or just from your mind?

^it's a combination. i had an initial idea in my head of what i wanted and the researched welding and meshed what i saw in pictures to fit what was in my head.
the hands in general bug me. there both too undefined and too defined. but i don't know, this also looks better in person because the camera made the lighting feel different or something. when you look at it in person it all seems much more dark. the contrast is a lot better. |

Oh, I see. I'm glad that you understood what I was trying to say about the hands, though. I could never draw something like that from a thought I had, haha. It's still a million times better than what I could do.

I see the city! I like the spark effect in shades of gray; it reminds me of fireworks but the sparks also have a very soft edge to them. actually it also kind of looks like a water fountain. whatever. I like it.
