For those people like me who have a sub-domain or domain name.

Which site do you use?

I use freewebs but I want to use a site that is free with a sub-domain that has php and maybe wordpress.

If that is even possible. I currently have a domain name but freewebs SUCKS butt. haha!

Well any suggestions/comments would be greatly accepted!! <3

CB is awesome!! <33

http://lunarpages.com FYI.

I use Vonetwork. It's not free, but it's pretty cheap. You'd have to move your domain over, or for $20 you can get a new domain name and one year of hosting.

Its in my sig; I use a combo of two sites! Freewebs, well, I really wish I could use a completely blank page to put my own (or maby some one elses, of corse they would get credit) codes, but nope, I have to use theirs...

I had to combine it with ProBoards, witch is a vary good site, because Freewebs message boards sucks ares and is vary confusing and limited to the administrator, while ProBoards gives you a whole verity of moderation abilities!

So, Freewebs sucks, and I really wish I could get a completely blank page to use code on... I give it a 2/5

And ProBoards is fantastic, and is not only easy to use, but vary good! For a free site, I give it a 5/5, compared to what I've seen on the internet...

I have looked there but I really don't like paying for a site when I have to pay extra just to edit my site on Godaddy.

I'm being hosted now. I just want to know what sites are out there besides the really popular ones like Godaddy and Freewebs.

Id love to host people on my website but im afraid that if i ever host someone theyll like destroy my site.

does anyone know a way to set up a ftp account that allows the user to only edit their folder or directory.

Cause if someone could tell me how i might give people names like theirsite.mysite.com

And I would limit them but my host has unlimited bandwith and storage so i dont have much to worry about there.

I am hosted by Tyler now. I can't edit his site but I can only edit my own. You could ask him. He is very nice. I actually just sent him an email about that but he hasn't replied back yet.

Just contact him. He will help you.

My current host is okay for now. I'm using Yakkel.com. They're pretty good. My old host was Kiandra at three-wishes.org...but she is closing down. I'm still looking for some better hosts out there. Yakkel's not my favorite, I LOVE hosts with cPanel which is what I'm looking for.

I've used dreamhost and it's had no restrictions on anything you can do database wise.

I'm currently with hostmonster and It has an actual cpanal, and I hate it.

I miss dreamhost.

I've used Godaddy, synced.org, and 1and1 they were all pretty good, the first two were free, so they made me put up ads. :/

I did use godaddy alone but I decided to use godaddy and yahoo smallbusiness. I got my domain name for like $1.17 at godaddy and hosting is like $15-22 I forgot how much. It's really good.

Is 1&1 good? I have the affliation thing with them but I'm thinking about getting hosting with them next year. Any ideas?

Godaddy sucked ass for me. Granted, it would probably be fine since you're just starting out. Their basic hosting plan couldn't hold one hundred people trying to access my site at once when I'd update, and their custom service was horrible.

Freewebs is a FREE host site.

You create a username, which is also your sub-domain name, and password. You can either have webs.com/YOURSITENAMEHERE or YOURSITENAMEHERE.webs.com. You get to choose.

I wouldn't recommend using freewebs, I used it for like 5 years and I was not personally happy with it. I would just recommend using Godaddy.

I've been using x10hosting and they haven't really disappointed me. They have had a few server problems but they are very attentive to them and they provide the best features for a free host. They do support php and as for wordpress you'd have to install it yourself but that's not that hard I mean they have a tutorial for it on the wordpress website.

I remember I used BraveHost for my first time and I kind of got tired of it after two months because it wouldn't let me use PHP and some other codes. Eventually, I just got a cheap hosting plan at FatCow. I've had for about like 5 months now and I'm pretty satisfied with it. _smile.gif
