Do you think that television/internet or any other of these mediums dumb down kids and lower their standards and ethics ? do you think that television has a negative or positive influence on society ?

Debate !

i think tv and the internet have overall had a positive effect. i know WAY more than i would if these didn't exist. the amount of stuff i've learned via the internet is amazing to me. yeah you can read books, which i do, but it's not the same. i can get 10 different opinions/perspectives in the time it would take me to read a one sided book.

sure it's has a negative impact on some people...like those who spend their time watching only reality tv or something, but over all i think it's impact is more positive than negative.

The effects media have on today's youth depends on the viewers themselves.
There are just as many if not more educational shows out there than there are dumb reality shows, violent shows, and overtly sexual shows.

Whether it is positive or negative depends entire only on the watcher's ability to separate right from wrong.
A person can watch a violent show and not be affected because he/she knows that violence is wrong. Meanwhile, an impressionable individual can watch the same show and start to emulate the actions and emotions of the characters.

Television is definitely the Death Box! Its nothing but mind-numbing subliminal messages!

...Count Bleck announced as he watched YouTube Poop...

Also, they cancel all the good shows...

But then again, its not ALL bad in the Telly! (Heh, I sound British) I always love a good hour-long documentary! Mostly on anything! Egyptology, the Future, all that stuff! I've learned a lot more from documentaries on the TV then I would ever have been willing to learn in the Internet!

I think that the internet gives kids the ability to learn, if they don't want to get distracted by doing dumb shit online. The same thing goes for T.V., except its not always easy to find something worth while on television.

Television should be more educational and let you know about the REAL world, instead of shows about how expensive this celeb's life-style is, or pampered little teens going to highschool or growing up in Beverly Hills or some junk like that.

Internet: Positive.
T.V.: Negative.

More and more reality shows are being put on air. There are no more intelligent shows that stimulate kids or challenge their intellect.
