QUOTE
swiss architects herzog and de mueron recently revealed their design for 56 leonard street, their first residential tower in new york city. the 57 story building is designed with each floor stacked on top of one another, each one slightly askew to create dramatic cantilevers. the architects have also paid special attention to the building’s impression on ground level, by creating the feeling of permeability through cantilevered sections and a commissioned sculpture by artist anish kapoor. the piece is mirrored stainless steel which appears to be wedged into an opening at the foot of the building.

the building was designed with five key zones: lobby, ‘townhouse’ residences, amenities,
tower residences, and penthouses. the lobby will feature a private mall for residences, while the
amenities level will house a 75-foot infinity edge pool and outdoor sun deck, in addition to fitness centre
and screening room. each residence will have its own outdoor space and interiors design by the
architects. homes in the building will range from 1,430 square feet to 6,380 square feet, with a price
range from .5 million to million. the building is expected to be done by the end of 2010.

i wanna live in that.

Umm... O_O

I'm sure the architect is insane...
A genius but insane nonetheless...

But I wouldint mind living there! Wait, is that in New York? Because if it is then never mind!

Because it does! It looks like a bunch of boxes haphazardly piled on top of each other. And in the last picture, the building looks like it could fall down on all the smaller ones around it. D:

so that's what it remainds me of

it think it looks amazing like crazy.. they must be some good architects..
but it also looks unstable
you know how the taller the Jenga gets the easier to fall..

but that ruins the whole purpose of living in a place like that! the openness of the windows are part of the whole experience.
