Make this thread helpful for the mods.
Mods are members, also. So member bashing is not allowed, as always. Don't make it a personal vendetta, please. Keep the bashing at 0%, please. Any moderator has the right to close and unpin this thread at the signs of bashing, pointlessness, and/or any other guideline breaker. I do hope this works out. I want to stress that this is not the place for personal attacks. If you really have to, keep it in the PM system between you and the mod. This thread is here to help mods work better with members. Please do not make this thread into a full scale discussion. Its main purpose is for members to evaluate moderator performance. If your question/concern has been answer, cease to post here until you have another concern. Thank you. So...your thoughts? (Threads will closed at the 45 page mark) |

Just to reiterate, and make it a bit clearer - We will automatically delete spam and blatant bashing from this thread from now on; this isn't the venue for your personal vendettas against any of our mods.

Yeah we all have lives outside of cb so sometimes we lag on returning PMs. Rebecca sent me one a few days ago and it took me a few days to get back to her.

To either hide the evidence that it ever happened. But it could just be to clean up the forums so it won't look dirty.

we're deleting any spam topics that comes in mass dosage and also any blatantly obvious spam topics simply because we obviously don't tolerate it and you guys already know the rules. I could go ahead and ask you why you're making spam topics to begin with. You could just not.

lol i dont know why people insist in arguing that 5 different topics saying "hi ______" or w/e is acceptable, even in the lounge.
also i'd like to point out that the reason we close most topics instead of deleting them is because we're obliged to make sure you understand the reason for it. in the case of blatant spam and mass spam, we feel that you obviously already know the reason for it and therefore we don't need to have it clutter the forum. |

To either hide the evidence that it ever happened. But it could just be to clean up the forums so it won't look dirty. ![]() It's definitely not to "hide" anything. To be perfectly candid, if anyone questions the validity of something specific being deleted, you can always contact either Trish or myself as we can both not only see who has moderated topics, but we can also see the Trash can (where all the deleted stuff lives). I think that the eval threads are fine and in some cases, it's brought some good discussion. I know I've been enjoying the different perspectives people have on one another. I thinks it's very Lounge-y. I think what separated Kryo's thread from the rest is the way he presented the topic. True, we may all very well suck and never be nearly as awesome as he is, but that's more or less a statement. That's why I can understand why it was interpreted as spam. Yanlin - the idea behind having the Lounge be a more lenient forum is still there, but I am afraid that with the VIP Lounge being in existance, it sort of changes things just a tad. In VIP Lounge, you can pretty much do what you please (to an extent). You can spam, chill, etc. So essentially while the Lounge is more lenient than other forums still, the blatant spamming can certainly go in the VIP Lounge and since it isn't necessary to have a slew of the same topics (ie: how many "Hi" topics do we really need?) those are more likely to be trashed. However, like I mentioned above, these topics, when deleted don't just get lost in cyberspace somewhere. They are definitely retrievable so if it's something you really feel should stay, feel free to ask. It never hurts to ask. Sorry for once again, a terribly long winded post. PS - Thomas, I took care of that. Thanks for the alert. |

I know it's retrievable, but there's things that gets deleted and put in the trashcan, so the general public (non-mods) can't see it.
As for Trish, I'm going to be honest here, I actually think she has done a good job being an admin so far, the cB side of it of course. She done alot of stuff, like the OM search flood crap, and actually reorganizing the forums, and she's working on the wiki? But her personality and her attitude and just how she approaches thing just kills it for her you know what I mean. All that baggage just overrides all the good she has done so far on cB, so people's image of her as an Admin derives not from what she has and hasn't do for cB, but because it's from her rep. |

Ok. I'm either not explaining myself well or I'm not saying what you want to hear. ;)
If someone deletes something, thus removing it from non trash can viewing access, there are people who can retrieve and move that something back to the public view. That I think you understand. What I am saying is that this idea that "evidence" is being hidden, isn't something that I personally condone or do. So, if you think that something is being deleted for the sole purpose of hiding, you can PM myself or another administrator to look into it. I hope that clears it up a bit. |

You know if people didnt feel the need to provoke me 24/7 my reactions would be really different. If you had someone riding your ass all day it would be different than my situation too. You can respond however you like because you aren't on the staff and people don't automatically think "that's not how a mod should act." If I choose not to say anything and feed into the drama I get called out for "punking out." If I say anything, then I get called out for being a bitch. Sorry, but mods are people too. That's all I'm going to say on this matter. |

Can someone remove my warnings now lol. Been almost a week.
Offtopic here, but I didn't know where to post this question. But you know how you guys say admins can't delete accounts or else it would mess up the cb4 structure or database or whatever? I saw Brandon requested to be deleted, but yall denied him. Steven's account got deleted and that didn't seem to mess anything up. Just curious. I never understand what the deal with that was. Ranting here. |

Who's Jessica?
I see, James, Jane, Rebecca, Dani, Miyashu, S-Majare have a strong forum presence, but some of the other mods, don't make a strong forum presence, but stop in at least once a day. I think they have a strong forum presence, but it's different. I don't see Miyashu around. Maybe she's only in the design forums. Jane appears here and there, but I forget that she's a mod. Sarah, I don't remember seeing in awhile. |

Out of curiosity, are mods still not allowed to be invisible? Or was that a blogring rule?

and to add a bit more, after what happened this last week, I feel that the current mods should step up their game even more and in a way, solidify the sense of community on cb. It seems that it's completely fallen apart now.

Assuming there was ever a sense of community in the first place. You can't really fix what you haven't broken. I don't feel as if moderators had a significant forum presence before, anyway, but people have other things to do, especially at this time. The criticism would be more constructive at another time.

ok staff, take notes. people want mods who are members of the community. not mods who are mods. mods who are mods are disconnected from the community. Yea, yea you tell 'em. He's was on the mod team, a former ex-Head Staff. Listen to him. lol. But seriously, yea you should be all around the forums if you're a moderator, especially as people staff. I mean, just because maybe the anime, food, Relationships, etc. forums might not have been touched or something by other moderators, you're still supposed to go around to each forum, do something here, do something there, etc. But moving topics and stuff is important as well as a strong presence. People want to see that you're actively participating in a community that you've been selected to lead, whether it be participation or moderation. That balance is what keeps you on, ESPECIALLY if you are part of People Staff. I'm not going to deal with Design Staff or anything because I'm not really over there... Haha. And it's not even about "having" a sense of community at this time. There is always a sense of community, but it depends on how you handle it. I mean, without a sense of community, don't you think everything would be in chaos? Just because we have the drama and crap doesn't mean that everything is falling apart. I think it's that kind of pessimistic attitude that boggles me, that's all. EDIT - MissHygienic, I am not attacking you or anything. This is just a general statement, but it incorporates what you've said. I know you've been around also, as I've seen you. ![]() |

p.s. jusun deleted stevens account, not any of the admins.
edit:// here's my opinion on design staff. i don't really think that they should be held accountable for not having a strong enough forum presence. How many of the people posting in this topic actually visit the Resource Center? Should we expect the design staffers to have to answer questions in the RC while moderating topics there as well, go through 50+ layouts and 50+ graphics in the queue, submit layouts, and then turn around and post whore in the community center? Sounds like we're asking too much of them, in my opinion. People staff are only required to moderate the community center and keep their post count up. (Not saying that they do less than the design staff, just saying that it's like apples and oranges. You can't expect the same things out of DS as you would from PS.) so why do we go to such great lengths to find design staffers with a 5.0 ppd when the second they get hired they're going to have to start focusing more in the RC than the CC? Most of the people even interested in design only come here to share their expertise by posting in the RC or submitting a ton of layouts. Why would they care about the community center? just sayin. |

Hey, guys, sorry I didn't check in here when I was online last night... for once I actually genuinely forgot to check into Feedback, hence missing the reorg thread as well. Sad times...
I'm going to make a point of trying to actually start some topics as well as just joining in over the next little while. The only thing is I have essay deadline sup until next thursday, so I'll be a little stretched. I'll work on it though. Although yanners does have a point, I am time zoneally challenged, despite being somewhat nocturnal. |

Exaaactly.... nor are they meant to abuse any rules at any given time when they feel is ok to do so. Well, yeah. Tamacracker - if you have a problem with a specific staff member/s or aspect of CB either go ahead and spit it out already or suck it up. If you don't feel like you can announce your reservations publically; PM a staff member who you feel you can communicate your problems to. |

I don't feel as if moderators had a significant forum presence before, anyway, but people have other things to do, especially at this time. The criticism would be more constructive at another time. I completely disagree with that. Previous to the current mods, many of the mods (and in all of this, I'm referring to only People Staff, DS doesn't matter) had a strong presence around these forums. People Staff are modded not only to just mod the general forums, but to keep the forums moving. Sure, everyone's busy at this time of the year, whether we're regular/official members or mods. But if all PS does right now, is to comment on just one or two subforums and talk backstage, I don't feel as if they're really doing their jobs. And are you saying that just because people are busy, that my criticism of not having mods around is invalid? Obviously, none of you are paid to work here, which makes 'modding' just whatever spare time you may have. But if mods can't devote time to cb, even if it's just 15-20 minutes a day or so, to pop in, visit a couple of subforums and comment on certain things, then I think that they should step down. So many previous mods have been demoted or have stepped down due to this. Not because they don't come on every day, but they don't make their presence seen enough that it was seen as inactivity. |

Nah, I basically misspoke. I was talking about the new People Staff moderators, not in all of history of moderators on CreateBlog. There was already a discussion about how moderators should work together and act like a team rather than having our (in general) own personal brand of dysfunction. I wasn't invalidating your statement of having all of the moderators step up their game; I was saying that the moderators weren't really working well together in the first place. Hence, you know, persuading a few to step down from staff. I can't speak for them, though. |

Instead of replying in MP with "take out the image tags", why not PM the person instead or use your energy to take out the image tags? It's annoying reading a reply that has nothing to do with the topic.
That goes to Cristy. That's all I ever see her doing. |

QUOTE Mods will no longer be editing posts of people who have been here long enough to know the rules. Instead, you will receive one reminder (a post made after yours or a PM) before a verbal warning and then eventually a warning for repeat offenses.

To answer your question, "verbal warnings" have been issued in the past for this, but we've recently discussed already that this is slightly inefficient. Instead, when it happens, an automatic raised warning level will happen (since a 10% warning increase is nothing, especially since OMs only get demoted at 20% now) - the member will be contacted and hopefully this will stop happening.
