Alrighty so i will be a junior officially tomorrow.
Im really nervous about it, especially throughout the year and what it will be like.
People have told me that their junior year has been their most favourite year and a really easy year.
I mean i see it as a lot of stressfull work and homework with not much of a life and trying to get college crap ready and even more importantly ACT's.

So to me i have no idea what their thinking or what its like to them.

What was your junior Year of highschool like?

Easy year? Well if you plan on going far in college and going to a good one, then your junior year should be your hardest and you need to be really focused on it.

Other than that, and if your going to a community college after high school then yea you can slack off. Mine wasn't that bad, of course I was homeschooled.

I would say your senior year in the most fun.

I'm a junior this year as well and I've heard the exact opposite. They say that this is the year that colleges look at the most so my parents have been pushing me more than ever to do good and get better grades. sad.gif

Sophmore year was the hardest for me, class wise. It depends on what classes you are taking. Junior year, at my school, was full of events. We had ACTs, SATs, and prom. It's more laidback, because you are an upperclassman. But depending on your classes it may be difficult. At my school, we were able to select more classes and has less required classes. So we could choose what math and science we wanted and we could choose our English credit out of three different classes.

Junior year is actually not as difficult as other people make it sound. It's important to keep up with your schoolwork and study for the SAT/ACT, but you'll survive. I thought junior year would be so hard, but it was manageable, and not that much harder than sophomore year.

To be honest, I don't remember much of my high school days. xD I didn't take the act/sat so I didn't have to prepare for them. The college i'll be transferring to requires that I show my scores for the sats/act unless i've completed at least 30 units of transferrable coursework (which i already have). so all in all, i never had to take them (since my community college didn't requre that i take them, either). shrug.gif
but yeah, school is only as hard as the classes you take. if you take relatively hard classes your junior year, it's probably going to be hard. that doesn't mean you can't make it fun, though. :)

I... don't really remember my junior year as far as academics but it was probably my fun year out of all four years in high school. Like everyone else has said, it depends on the classes you take. Yes you will have to take the SATs/ACTs but if you don't do good, remember that you can always take them over. Just don't stress so much. Have a good year. Relax. Hang out. Be a high school kid. Everything will be good. _smile.gif

well im deffinatly not taking any AP classes or college classes. My mom was actually the one who told me to try not to take them which is completely fine with me because ive heard some of my friends who have either barely passed one or say that it was really hard and even now my friends are completly stressing over them and school hasnt even started yet.
Also nor am i having a job during the school year so that should make things easier.

Your junior year sounds like it will be fine, then. I think you should have taken at least one AP, although those actually don't matter that much. I'm guessing your friends loaded themselves with three or more AP classes each. All you really need to do is excel in all your classes so that your GPA will be high.

woops i always add an extra f or something to things when i type too fast

I would take an AP class but i dont always handle stress in a good way, plus in the past two years ive had classes that seemed like AP classes. I know some of my frienads are taking 2-3 ap classes and an honors class which to me is just nuts. Plus my mom told me that its better to ace a regular class and have that on your record then to bad on an AP class. Im aware that having an AP class will look good on your record and all but it cant look good if you didnt do well in it. Also im not saying that everyone will fail their AP class. Plus i do tennis and the thing is, if you get a c- or lower you are suspended from the team until you get your grade up and i dont want to have to deal with that, especially since this year i have a potential of getting a good spot since i was 4th singles last year. SO i dont want to mess that up.

IMO, doing sports in high school is a lot easier than doing sports in college. Everyone that I've talked to that went to college before me stressed that fact. If you get too worried about something, then it will be difficult. Just go into Junior year with the same attitude that you went into other years with and you'll be fine. If your grades start to slip, work a little harder and communicate with your teachers. The last two years of high school for me were the years when I could slack a bit, but I also wanted to do everything on my own so I'd be more prepared for college.

If you're not taking AP classes, I don't know why you would be stressed about this. I'd assume you'll have a pretty easy year; my junior year was full of AP/IB and gifted/honors classes, so I doubt my experience would be in any way like yours. On the east coast we focus on the SAT, too.

If you're taking AP US History and your teacher gives you terms...DO THEM.

I copied my sisters and did horrible. Don't make the same mistake I did. Or...read the textbook. AP test will kill you if you don't know your history crap.

But other then that, everything else was easy.

I just started my junior year, too.
It's supposed to be my busiest year.
Got 4 APs to juggle.
But I think it should be fine.

Learn to manage your time, Tomates.

My junior year wasn't as stressful as I thought it would be.
Just manage your time right.
