QUOTE
(CNN) -- Standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on August 28,1963, Martin Luther King Jr. shared his vision for a new America:

"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal,' " he said before a crowd of hundreds of thousands.

King's dream for a land where his children would "not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character" would be repeated, meditated upon and memorized for generations to come.

On the 45th anniversary of King's rousing call, Sen. Barack Obama will accept the Democratic nomination at INVESCO Field in Denver, Colorado. In what represents at least a partial actualization of King's dream, Obama will officially become the first African-American to lead a major party's ticket for president of the United States.

Who do you all think McCain is going to pick for his VP?

I've heard rumors that they are going to announce his choice tonight.

Drudge also said that Evan Bayh was Obama's VP pick less than an hour before he announced Biden. He even had a bumper sticker up!

AHHH, i can't believe they're all HERE in colorado..it's been so freaking amazing. they obviously had to close down a couple of highways last weekend in preparation for the humongous amount of traffic coming in, but it's all been great! and i absolutely love invesco stadium, great place to have it at.

i missed a lot of the convention because school just started up again this week and it's been killer, but i watched the entire speech and it gave me goosebumps while i was clapping and yelling, lol. barack is awesome.

They made stickers and posters for all of the potentials, or at least made plans for them. There were also plans in place with the nearby airports to transport the VP as soon as they got the word.

because she is a hard worker so it may had contributed the "aged-political" look on her face and neck. Think about all the stress, odd schedules, and things she does.

Not to mentioned, she graduated from Harvard … and Princeton?
i dont remember ...

she quited her old job at the law firm to be involved with community services. she was also the head of certain organization.

More pretty rhetoric with little substance. Listening to flowery and evasive language is not inspiring to me in the least.

Not that John McCain is really any better.

personally i think that anyone who says this speech was exactly like his others either A) didn't watch it or B) hasn't watched his others.

the rhetoric was different, the change message was more outlined and less vague, he his all the main points that needed to be hit.

Between reminiscing about his church, attacking McCain, and offering hypothetical scenarios of the suffering working-class, it was disappointingly stale.

I also have the entire transcript in front of me. There is zero concrete extrapolation on any of his plans.

If he wants to inspire me, then he needs to stop playing it safe with flowery words that don't mean anything, which is the same problem as pretty much every single politician out there.

Reidar, he was preaching the choir.

I think it's one of Obama's biggest downfall. Sure he can charm the people that love him anyway, but I'm unconvinced he can get enough lukewarms and undecideds to support him.

would you please shut up and not reply to my political topics like this anymore? besides the fact that you aren't even coherent most of the time, what you're saying is stupid as hell. he said thank you a bunch of times because there isn't that much else you can say to try to hint to a crowd to calm down so you can proceed with a speech. you're spamming as far as i'm concerned.

every time you post in topics like this i'm just left thinking "what the f**k" after i read your reply. i don't think you have any clue what you're talking about.

Find out what a partial birth abortion is.

They pull the baby out of the womb, crack the head open, then suck the brains out with a vacuum.

Neil Boortz, author of The FairTax book, wrote an interesting article on Obama's speech from an economic standpoint.
