I used to brush before I had breakfast but now that I have my braces in, its easier for food to get caught so I wait til I'm finished eating. thumbsup.gif

After, because it's kinda pointless for me to eat my breakfast with a minty taste in my mouth and get my teeth dirty again.

I never could understand the reasoning behind brushing before you ate, 'cause your teeth would just get dirty again.
But if I hated the feeling of unbrushed teeth enough (I'm getting to the point of hating it), I'd brush before and after.

i brush before i eat.

Getting your teeth dirty doesn’t mean anything. When you brush your teeth, you're also removing the good bacteria and nutrients for your teeth and gums.

After you brush your teeth, you will still be left with bad bacteria that will multiple anyways.

whether you brush before or after, your teeth will always be dirty.

&also brushing teeth before messes up your taste buds.
ex. when you drink orange juice. XD.gif

I do both. I like having minty fresh breath, and food tastes funny if I don't brush my teeth before.

I do both. We have a genetic history of bad teeth, to but it in elementary terms. I'm a major coffee drinker as well, so I usually rebrush (lightly) around 10:30-11:00AM or so.

Before. I hate eating with my gross morning breath. And I hate mint, so I can't wait to get that taste out of my mouth.

God, somebody tell the toothpaste makers to make one that isn't minty and yet doesn't taste like turd.

Same here. Except, I feel like I should get into the habit of brushing after I eat too. Extra clean/freshness!

Always taught to brush before eatings but I always find it pointless so I do it after now.
EXCEPT when I'm going somewhere before I get to eat, so I have to brush before breakfast. (ie: Going to a breakfast resturant or work, school etc)

Here's my professional advice, which I am qualified to give as a licensed dentist:

Brushing after breakfast is the right thing to do. Those who do not brush after breakfast are giving the plaque and food debris stuck on their teeth an entire uninterrupted morning to rot away at their enamel.
The morning breath bacteria are not harmful when swallowed. Your stomach has very strong concentrations of hydrochloric acid, and the germs in your oral cavity cannot survive in that environment.
If you don't like that morning breath gross taste, rinse with mouthwash right after waking up. Eat your breakfast, then brush your teeth to protect them for the rest of the morning.
Those who advocate brushing before breakfast then just rinsing afterwards have it bass-ackwards.

Hope this helps. _smile.gif

When I do eat breakfast than after because i got used to having to do this while having braces. But most of the time I don't eat breakfast so I'll brush my teeth once I wake up.

I'll brush before, and if there's a funny after taste or something, I'll brush afterwards too.
