So my friend and I are having a bet for $100 dollars.

The bet is on the subject of condom,

He says that if the condom doesn't leak or have a hole in it. It is impossible for the women to get pregnant while having sex.

I said that condoms isn't perfect nor 100% safe. Even if you use it correctly.. There still will be a small chances of her being pregnant. Even at a slim chance like 1% or even .0001%, she still might be pregnant.

Who do you guys agree with? Show me proof and explain. Thanks thumbsup.gif

Nothing, besides not having sex, is 100%. It's a thing called human error. There's always the possibility that a condom will fail you. I don't know why you're basing your bet on what we say, go ask a doctor. Or Google, which nowadays is just as good.

I need proof to show him.

I've been searching all over the internet but still... can't find REAL facts? There isn't anywhere that says his facts are true too?

Shouldn't it say on the box?

QUOTE
For condoms, the typical failure rate is about 12%, somewhat worse than birth-control pills (8%), but better than the diaphragm (18%), withdrawal (19%) and rhythm (20%). [Source: "Contraceptive Technology," Irvington Press, and Family Planning Perspectives journal.] Researchers know that, as with other methods, the failure figures include many couples who don't use contraception every time. If couples used condoms consistently and correctly, researchers estimate, the condom's failure rate would plummet to 2% or 3%, or perhaps even less.

Mind you, this is from a 1995 source. I'll try to find a more recent one.

Edit: 2004 source
QUOTE
Condoms are not totally safe sex: they reduce the risks of penetrative sex. Experience with birth control shows that over a period of a year about 6% of women who use condoms as their sole form of contraception will get pregnant. Although this is not all down to condom failure – a proportion of the pregnancies are no doubt due to failure to use condoms every time – this is still quite a high failure rate.

He's right. If it doesn't leak, break, have a hole, or slip off, the woman won't get pregnant.

In other words, if it doesn't fail, it works.

Just rip it in half and show it to him. Technically, it doesn't have a leak or a hole in it. wink.gif

It's just an easy $100 dollars bet. We were discussing about some other topic then my friend and I accidentally stumbled into this topic. We were having a friendly debating about it.

If you would like to help me find the answer so I could win the bet is appreciated, if not.. stop judging and making fun of. So childish. You shouldn't tell others to find a new hobby when your hobby is to go online and make fun of others for posting up topics that you don't like?

If you want an answer that is actually reliable, do with Dee said - go ask a doctor. I mean, they should know best.

It's VERY simple. I'll lead you through it. Most people don't think this through the whole way.

Fact: For a woman to get pregnant, sperm has to get inside the vagina.

How does sperm get inside the vagina?
The condom leaks, breaks, has a hole, or slips off. Sperm cannot magically teleport itself outside of the condom if none of these occur. Those ways are the ONLY ways sperm can get inside the vagina while using a condom.
Your friend is correct.

Like mipadi said, if it doesn't fail, it works.

Exactly. How do you expect her to get pregnant if the condom doesn't break? I don't see your logic.
