Diving, swimming, gymnastics. But I'm looking most forward to diving. It's my favourite. My mom and I make a game out of making fun of the crappy non-Chinese divers who make huge splashes. AZNPRYDE YEAH.

Guo Jingjing is pretty (and a HELL of a diver), and so is her boyfriend Tian Liang. (ex? I can't remember).

I just saw this spread of Michael Phelps in People Magazine. Holy crap, is he ever ugly. And full of himself.

The Olympics start on August 8 (8th month, 8th day, 2008) and end on the 24th, since the number 8 is considered lucky.

You know Kobe Bryant had the loudest ovation. That's amazing. He got more cheers than the Chinese President, the Russian, and George Bush. The moment was so odd that even U.S. journalists were looking at each other in puzzlement.

Oh, and I was watching the Girls Gymnastic training earlier, and the girls were hot! I have white fever. blush.gif

And oh, I'm watching badminton too since it's my favorite sport. And this Japanese chick literally broke this Iceland chick so she had to forfeit haha. Then I watched this Indonesian chick beat this German chick. It was a hella good match. Went down to the very last point.

As a Chinese person...f**k YEAH I'M PATRIOTIC. GO CHINA!!!!!!!

ZHONG GUO JIA YOU, AO YUN JIA YOU!

You know I would type Chinese if I knew how. Sorry for the fob moment. I can't help it. The atmosphere is electric in HK! Haha people stop in the streets to watch the huge TVs in malls and cheer China on.

FIRST GOLD FOR CHINA - girl from Guangzhou. Weightlifting. Friggin awesome. You know if it was Canada up against China, that I would TOTALLY cheer for China.

Opening Ceremony: totally loved how they painted the thing RIGHT THERE. And then the athletes coloured in the bottom bit with their footprints. I thought the whole thing was really creative.

The lighting of the Olympic Flame/torch runner dude was SO AWESOME. I loved the collective gasp in the audience haha.

I liked how the American outfits were the same for the men and women (I mean, in colour scheme. Obviously the cutting would be different). Pretty much all the other countries had different colours for the two genders. OH agree with whoever said that thing about the country with like, the Hawaiian shirts. Ew. Chinese outfits were so blah for the women - that garish shade of yellow. Eurgh. Should have made them all wear red. Then it would have been a huuuuuge sea of red, and a little bit of yellow, like the flag.

Joanne - haven't you seen those outfits at the Bay for the Canadians? They looked gross on TV, but they're actually not that bad. But they got criticised for having them made in China - lol.

The Olympics are always so intense for me, and yet I'm like the least athletic person ever haha.

Guys, since a lot of you love it so much - Diving tomorrow, Women's Synchronized 3m springboard final! 2:30pm Beijing time. You do the conversion.

That was an amazingly long post. Patriotism kicks in, sorry.

^ A springboard final already? Good thing it's not sometime between 1-6am here. xD

I stayed up last night so I could watch the Canadians (or, at least mainly Kyle Shewfelt) compete in mens gymnastics... but I ended up falling asleep. Damn. And the different time zones really suck! I feel like I'm missing out on so many of the events... So far I've only watched a bit of womens beach volleyball (Russia vs Australia) and a bit of mens gymnastics (America).

There's events in Diving for the next 4 days (Sunday to Wednesday), all finals, all at 2:30pm Beijing time. I think it goes like Women's Sync 3m Springboard, Men's Sync 10m Platform, Women's Sync 10m Platform, then Men's Sync 3m Springboard.

WATCH ON WEDNESDAY FOR ALEXANDRE DESPATIE (CND). WOOTWOOT.

Full schedule here: http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/Schedule/index.shtml

^ Yeah. sad.gif Honestly though, I expect the Americans to win.

Speaking of Yao, I love how they had a little kid walk next to him during the Opening Ceremony. The kid was actually 9, but next to Yao he looked like he was around 5 haha. If you saw him, you probably noticed a bald spot on his head - apparently he got it from an injury when he was saving someone in an accident (details fuzzy, and my Chinese translation is no good). But he's an orphan too. Poor kid.

omg! that kid was so freaking adorable! he was a survivor from the earthquake and apparently, when he was rescued, he gave a little salute to the soldiers who found him. isn't that so cute? and i also heard the announcers say the little boy also saved a couple of his friends. amazing.
and i know, he barely went up to yao's waist!

Definitely watching Gymnastics, swimming and soccer. The USA volleyball game was intense and winning all 3 medals in fencing (sabre) is great!

Thanks for explaining in detail about the kid - what a cutie! Amazing how he saved his friends as well. A truly touching story.

I was just watching the womens soccer game, China vs Canada, and omg it was the most boring thing ever. Oh, and the equestrian events are taking place in HK, and a ton of the locals here rushed to buy tickets to watch some events, but a lot of people fell asleep XD. And then they left early. So much for Olympic spirit.

Poor kid.
THAT LITTLE KID WAS SOOO CUTE! i would kidnap him haha ;x

The swimming event is super exciting!

P.S.: The story about the kid who walked with Yao was really touching. Such a cute one.

Someone that was a part of the US volleyball team got stabbed to death, I believe. They weren't an athlete, but a relative of someone? I dunno.

"Oh, the Romanians Sure suck nowadays" (In other Words)
"Yeah, those Chinese girls don't look 16 at all. More like 12" (In other words)

They said it like 15 times.

^ Yeah, there's been legal documentation proof that the Chinese girls on the Gymnastic team isn't 16 at all. 16 is the minimum age. But these girls are only 13-15 years old. What a shame.

Oh gosh, Shawn Johnson was absolutely fantastic. It's a good thing she was there, she held everything together. I DID see the Chinese girl fall. She was so sad (understandably). It was sad.

I freaked out to. My brother and I were high-fiving and cheering. I felt bad whenever someone fell off. There was a Romanian girl who fell off the balance beam and didn't look to happy.

Exactly. Being cocky never gets anyone anywhere. I'm excited for Phelps! The relay was probably the hardest and most nerve racking event for him because it's not just him that had to do well.
