I'm creating an awards site and for some reason, whenever it's perfect in Firefox, it looks weird in IE and whenever it's perfect in IE, it's weird in Firefox.

I guess I COULD take the time and try to figure out how to make it the best in both worlds... or I could just see which browser most people use.

Firefox, IE, or other?

FIREFOX ALL THE WAY
for some reason, IE is a little slower, and when you Ctrl+F; its easier to search
plus the icon in the upper left corner is cooler ;]

In all reality, Internet Explorer is used more widely. However, Firefox is definitely getting up there.

Personally, I use Firefox.

I personally prefer using Firefox over Internet Explorer.

And haha, I got my friends to use it too. >< So yeah, like Arjuna said, firefox is definitely getting up there. Now I hear more about Mozilla than IE.

Firefox is much better. It's got built in accelerator plus the popup blocking is better than IE's and it's safer. Plus the new IE 7 got some loopholes in it, and doesn't work properly on all systems causing some of them to crash.

Fire Fox. It's so much better. Faster, safer, user friendly, completely customizable, oh so many add ons, etc. Fire Fox is simply amazing. I never use IE anymore. And for sites that don't show up in Fire Fox, you can download the IE tab add on which loads the site in IE through Fire Fox. It's pretty awesome if you make layouts.

I have dialup and the speed is worlds apart. IE takes like 30-40 seconds to load a site where as FF takes like 5 seconds for already visited sites and 10-15 seconds for any other site. Plus, the instant back button feature is amazing. When you press the back button, it doesn't have to reload the site all over again.

Firefox.

But neither display HTML nor CSS correctly/completely (according to the Acid2 test). Unless you're talking about Fx Gran Paradiso (3.0a1), but that's still an alpha release.
You should try it in Opera first and see how it comes out, because it's pretty much the only browser out there for Windows that's passed the Acid2 test.

Internet Explorer.

Most people don't like it because it doesn't have like protection and stuff. But I have a special antivirus for IE, so whatever.

Go IE6! _smile.gif

If some layouts won't load correctly, I just use my IE tab extension and things would go REALLY fine.

i don't even dare try surfing with IE. learned my lesson with that one. for some reason firefox fucks up a lot on me, it freezes more than IE on my comp so i started using maxthon. what i like about maxthon, the tabbed browsing if you right click the close option is on the top instead of on the bottom.

Me personally, I love the new internet explorer! But alot of people like firefox, I hated it. Explorer is way more user friendly and has all the best features of firefox, plus the new one covers 99-100% of the codes etc.

What you think?

Umm, yeah, there's already a topic on this.

IE7 definitely doesn't have all the best features of Firefox. The user interface of IE7 is too messed up and confusing (at least to me). And spell check? I don't think so.. Firefox is also "supposedly" safer and faster than IE.

Opera is awesomer. It's a lot more customizable than both Fx and IE, AND it has a built-in BitTorrent client. Plus, it was the first browser (that supports Windows) to pass the Acid2 test.

Opera > Firefox > IE.

Thanks Elaine.

I use Safari on my Macbook.
Safari is SO MUCH FASTER than Firefox at my house. I also like the design better. Also, I'm not sure if this would mean anything, but my dad's laptop with IE installed has wayyy slower internet... even if we're sitting together at the same spot in the house.

Also, Firefox renders coding better than IE. ^^ That's why your page can look different in both browsers..

Firefox: Internet explorer 7 is integrated too closely with the main windows exe ( explorer.exe). Pair that up with some loopholes and u have a nicely vulnerable system.

Firefox rules, cuz of the 'Recover Session' thing.

On a personal level, I'd say Firefox. It's just what I prefer.

However, I have yet to see any of my employers use anything else but IE.

I would really recommend finding a way to code the site for cross compatiblity. I'm sure someone here would help you if you needed it.

Firefox all the way. I've been using it for about 3 years now ever since my cousin told me about it. It's WAY better than IE. I can't believe how long I was using IE, and how I never knew about FF. No viruses, no spam, no pop-ups, awesome tabbed-browsing, and more speed. I REALLY like it more now since IE7 came out. IE7 confuses me and crashed my mom's computer when I installed it when it first came out. Whatever. Firefox is amazing. <3

Firefox. It's way safer, notifies me of sites that could be attempting to be fraudulent by making a name very similar to a legit site. It also has the potential to go significantly faster than IE.

^Speed up firefox.

Downside:
Some programs only use Internet Explorer. I use this thing called WebCT for my university which is basically a class login to take quizzes/view grades and it acts buggy on firefox and won't work until I use it a few times on IE.

I hate IE with a passion.

Until recently I used FireFox. It's not as good as it used to be, so I've switched to a new browser which isn't well known yet. It's nice and simple which suits me fine. It's called "Maxthon" You can find information on it here: http://www.maxthon.com/

It's doing okay for me at the moment. There are bugs and such, but since it's not widely used it's expected. I prefer it to FireFox. For now, anyway..

@Rachel
Yeah it works perfectly fine for me too now. Whenever I reformat my computer though, and have to re-do everything, the first times I start WebCT it always freezes after the log in phase. I just load it in IE, close, then proceed to use firefox for it from that point out.
