Does anyone remember this topic where my fish committed suicide by jumping out of the bowl?
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...177&hl=fish Well, I have a new fish and he seems to be happier. His name is Sebastian and he's very pretty and red. These are the silly things he does sometimes. :D Sometimes he likes to blow bubbles. He lines the rim of the bowl with these little bubbles, it's a very interesting habit he has. Sometimes I watch him do it, it's pretty funny.  When it's time to feed him, he floats in the middle of his bowl. I put the food in (he eats betta flakes) and he comes right up to eat it. You can hear it if you're paying attention, it's adorable.  Quite possibly the weirdest thing is when he goes diving in the rocks at the bottom. You hear them crashing around, but he's not like bashing his head against them or anything. Just shifting them around. He'll usually make a few really quick passes around the bowl and then go back to the rocks.  Anyway, I'm not a fish person but I realize these are not necessarily abnormal things for a fish to do. I'm just still pretty amused by them anyway. :P |

i had 4 fish once... their names were tinky winky,dipsy,la la, and po (i am dead serious) they died when we moved. i cried all day

If it's a labyrinth fish, like a Siamese fighting fish, they make bubble nests as a breeding habit (regardless of whether or not they have a partner).

Yup, that's why. Bettas are labyrinth fishes, so he can also breathe out of water. Their natural habitat is often poorly oxygenated, so they have a suprabranchial labyrinth organ that allows - oooh look, a rock!

Whales are not fish. They don't breathe air "a little". All whales always breathe air.
Also, there are oviparous mammals, or mammals that lay eggs. The platypus and the echidna both do. |

Lol, zoology is boring.
My brother had a betta one time and that thing didn't die for a long time. Otherwise, the only time I've had a fish is when I've gone fishing and caught one. And cooked them. I don't eat them, though, because they are gross. |

The thing about whales being mammals that breathe only air (can't breathe underwater) is something I learned when I was in elementary school. They don't breathe involuntarily like we do - they can go several minutes between breaths. I thought that was common knowledge, so I believe that Reidar didn't just take that information from some website. xD

haha yay hopefully this one won't jump. Anyway if its a male and hes blowing bubbles then it could mean that hes ready to make little babies. The males make the bubbles for the female plant the little seed XD Of course the bubbles should stay instead of popping if this is the case.

I once stuck my hand down Nicki's garbage disposal to rescue her goldfish after it fell in the sink during tank cleaning.
Also, maybe the rock shuffling is some sort of scratching? Like removing dead skin? |

Bettas move around the gravel to establish their territory. All of mine did that. The males are very aggressive. If you hold up a mirror to them, they'll go ballistic trying to kill it (that happens with me, too).

My old fish Toothbrush jumped out. I scooped him up and put him back in his bowl but he died the next day.
Then my other fish Mr. Krabs jumped out, but then my two dogs clawed him to death. And Betta fish are so cool. But I think if I had one, I'd kill it because I'd have it sit in front of a mirror all day (: Teehee. |

I would think that having a fish would be boring. But I guess it's a pretty easy job. My brother had a bunch of sharks with other little fish in a tank. But one of the sharks got bigger than the rest and ate all the other fish...

i know, who am i to judge you... but really that was boring... sorry, i found it boring... not that cute ether... i would try and use real pictures anyway, reaserch it or something.... or just get a real fish... thats an idea... |

When I lived in FL, we have a big fish tank. And the smaller fish used to always die because they would get sucked into those filter tube things... It was really quite sad because it was really hard to get them out of the tube and they would start to decompose in there....
Or sometimes if one of the fish died and floated up to the top, the other fish would eat him! :'( Fish tanks are very tramatising! |
