Does anyone else think that Nintendo's next hand held the DS is going to flop? Or do you think they can pull through with it?

I don't think it's going to be. Nintendo has a pretty good reputation in the portable console market. I'm not sure how that second screen is going to work out though...

It could be used as a PDA too. The touch screen could be used as a keyboard. Plus it's GBA compatible. So maybe, the flash carts for GBA will work. Meaning that PocketSNES and PocketNES will work.

However, the sucess is questionable. Nintendo admitted that the DS is not their main focus.

The above is the Sega 32x. Sega said that it would not be their main focus as well. I bet none of you have even heard about the 32x before. It was a flop. Time will only tell how will the DS will do.

I'm still going to buy one though, I don't have an SP.

oh crap! hmm, let's let EGM magazine predict the weather for us, because they're ALWAYS RIGHT! better yet, i'm going to ask them to predict the lottery numbers so that I can become a millionaire.

the point is, I only read the objective stuff in magazines. I make my opinions on the cold hard facts. you shouldn't just adopt another person's opinion because it's in a magazine.

I think the DS has many more deatures to exploit when it comes to GAMING. Thats what Nintendo is about, the gamer. While the PSP has many multimedia capabilities, I think the DS's gaming abilities will outweigh that of the PSP. Take the Stylus pen for example. Not only can that be used for "picto chatting" where people can chat together AND draw each other pictures via the wireless link, but it has direct use in gaming, including the new Metroid game, in which you can shoot using the pen. Kind of reminds you off the good old mouse, except maybe a but easier to use.

Nintendo has yet to fail in the handheld market. As Nintendo's Reggie Fils-Aime said at E3, "Nine have tried. Nine have failed."

But my question is...why would you want something like that in a portable console???? It's a GameBoy, not a PDA!

True, but think of the things that this can be used for! Why WOULDNT you want easier FPS shooting on your gameboy when youre playing against friends? Or even in general?

Heh, well I have no friends who actually play GameBoy. I'm not sure how well a FPS would work on a portable system. I mean, I really don't know, that's why I'm skeptical.

i just seen the ds. huh.gif pretty weird
if this thing fails, even i would feel embarrassed....i mean, nintendo has been the best of the handheld.
but, sony has been the leader of any hardware, in my opinion...they know what to do...plus, sony has the attraction of adults. no adult is gonna go to the store and buy pokemon ruby red or whatever for their nintendo ds.

I'm not sure...the psp does look very impressive. While some games in the DS seems pretty pointless and the buttons in DS are way too small. I guess I have to wait to see their game libraries to decide.

I'm looking forward to that as well! I hope they have a better typing system. Writing letters in the GC version was a pain in the arse.

Final Fantasy could go either way, I'd say. That's if Square Enix makes some portable games. They haven't made many and only have a few in the works, I believe.
