I'm making a layout right now, and I want there to be a drop shadow on both the left and right side of an image I'm making. How the heck do I do this with photoshop? I can't think of anything =\

K so you're going to right-click the layer that your image is on and click on blending options where you'll see the drop shadow tab on the left. And you just adjust the angle and properties for your liking.
hope that helped. |

You want two drop shadows? But...why? I think it would look weird. But I'm trying it out right now.
What exactly do you mean by a drop shadow on the left and the right? I tried it out and it looks really weird, so I don't know if that's what you were asking for. Anyway, what I did was do the drop shadow at 180 degrees, then I copied the image. Flatten the 180 degrees drop shadowed image, then with the copied image, do another drop shadow of 0 degrees. That's the only way I can think of. On the other hand, you could try doing an "Outer Glow", and setting the Blend Mode to "Multiply" and the colour to black at around 75% opacity. That gives the image an all-round dark shadow. |

well what i was thinking you could do was to add the drop shadow on one side, do a ctrl+j on that layer & just change the angle so it is opposite to your layer underneath. so you get me?

you can always just make two layers under the original one that's the same shape as what you're trying to shadow, fill it in as black and fiddle around with the opacity.
that's what i do on corel and illustrator, anyways. |
