So I got a website and have been working on it really hard and wondered what you guys thought?

I have a pretty good amount od content but im trying to get more.

I also need to more like fans that use my site and stuff.

Right now im averaging 2000 hits a day.

And im affiliating with people to try and get more.

So what do you think.

also post a link to your site and say how many hits you get a day.

For just starting, it's not bad. I'm personally not fond of the layout...Underlined links bother me for some reason, and the font for the banner is odd. Also, it's important to give credits. It's obvious that most, if not all, the icons in your icon section were not made by you. Neither are some of the backgrounds on your regular layouts. I also noticed your tutorial on using divs is identical to mine for the most part. And yet there are no credits whatsoever on your site. As for the content is concerned, it's rather simple, but I guess that's the whole idea of your site.

I don't really like it. Yeah, you're "simplicity layouts" but your actual layout really isn't very appealing. By looking at your site, I wouldn't be interested in anything you had to offer.

Next, I'm not a fan of your content, either. What's with offering the default cursors? And div boxes? It feels as if you're just teaching basic html. And I agree with the above - did you make those icons yourself? If you didn't, you need to credit, and if you did, then you're obviously capable of creating a layout for yourself that doesn't look like... yeah.

I have seen a lot of those icons and a few of those layouts before on really reliable websites, not just on here. but I guess it could go either way. anyways. I agree with the above comment. IMO, it's horrible. all of it. >_<

The blue and the red don't go together very well. Hurts my eyes a little. It's really lame that you don't make your own patterns for you layouts, too. I mean, come on, it's not that hard to plug in a few things to your layout code and have a nice layout done in no time. The least you could do is actually make some of it. I'm sorry if that's harsh.

I agree with what everyone said.

If you open a site your content be made by you and not just taken from others, especially since you did not give credit. That's called stealing.

Well I got permission to use the backgrounds for all my layouts from the designers and they didnt require credit.

And this is my first site and Iv e only started learning coding about 6months ago.

And I agree I need to give credit for the icons.

And it annoys me cause im really good at coding but not design stuff.

So I can do anything but im not good at making the image stuff. etc.

Well thanks for the instructive crtitisism.

Well if your not good at making the images then why not try harder. I started off as crap and I'm still not very good but I'm improving every time I make something.

^'zactly what she said. even if the designers required no credit (which i think you're lying about, no offense), you should always give it to them.

although your site is called "simplicity layouts"
i don't get how they're simple at all! the layout of your website is very simple, it looks a little boring which is why i didn't really feel like looking through it, but i checked out your layouts and they're hardly simple.
so that doesn't match up too well pinch.gif
the rollovers are nice, but the colours are sort of bland.
its okay, needs a bit of improvement though!

I would delete your icon page. They are all stolen. And no, you can't just credit the person on Photobucket where you found them. People steal icons and put them on their photobucket and then other people take them. It is really quite annoying actually.

Don't give up though. My site was crap when it started. Just keep improving and learning. Don't worry so much about attracting visitors. Just work on the content and the visitors will come as a result of it.

I was going to mention something about that in my first post, but I forgot. I also have a hard time believing that. Your site just started, you have only a couple affiliates, and it's not like you had a myspace that already had a million friends when you got a website. Are you sure it's not "pageviews" that you're looking at? I suggest getting one of those Extreme Trackers...They're usually accurate.

But it doesnt matter as long as I know its the truth cause it is.

But really thanks for the constructive critisism.

O and by the way im only 13 and ive only been doing this for like half a year.

Well actually i only turned thirteen today so when i made this site i was 12!!!!

Well, no, actually. I was eleven when I started coding xanga layouts, started my website when I was thirteen, and am still only fourteen. Age doesn't really matter, in my opinion.

I hate being so critical, but the fact that you're not really taking the feedback to better your site and trying to make up excuses for why it's the way it is bothers me. I mean, instead of adding credits or taking down the icons page, you added to it. ermm.gif

In this day and age, no you don't get any extra kudos for building a site when you're twelve years old. You're basically the norm.

First impression didn't make me want to actually look around. Definately missing something interesting to grab attention. Like someone else said, what do you have that is going to make people come back? Or even look around?

I'm not going to nitpick. It is ok for a start. But try to make something more interesting.

Do you think I need to make a separate page for credits or just page the icons creds on the icons page?

And im gonna work on the nav.

O and I haven't put new content for a while cause ive been busy.

And how do you get more friends on the myspace.

Does anyone use like a friendblastr thing?

12 year olds aren't even supposed to have a myspace!

You can use a friend adder site, but it makes you look EXTREMLY desprite. I used to use one, but I relised that the friends I got from the site didn't care about my layouts or anything. They just add you because they want a ton of worthless friends.

So you can use it to make your site's myspace look popular, but it is not going to bring anymore traffic to your site.

Plus the people that you add post 50 bulletins a day asking you to join some stupid site. It gets so annoying.

So I would stay away from them.

She used resources for her layouts. It's not a sin to do that, and she DID give CREDIT for what she used.

What did you do to get that many then? Do you get 2200 hits a day or 2200 UNIQUE hits a day. Remember unique hits is a visitor and hits is a refresh.

QUOTE(highwayto4355 @ Jun 8 2008, 05:58 PM) *
its annoying that sites like yours, those who steal icons and use patterns they didn't make for their 'ultimate original stylesheets' are getting 2000 hits a day when sites like mine and my friends barely even hit fifty.

Awww I love Riki from Take a bow, I'm affiliated with him.

Yeah I agree with everyone. I really don't like your site, sorry but everything on there I've seen before. Your site doesn't bring anything new.

If I was you, I would do a site on things I'm more knowledgeable on. If you don't know graphic design then why make a graphic site? Just do a site just HTML and do a simple layout with no header, just pure HTML and CSS. I would invest in a nice graphic program and learn first. try Gimp to get a feel for one and make your OWN graphics and I'll have more respect for your site.

I started at 12 also and I wasn't so good either. I had better taste in colors though.

To answer your question. I get 240 unique average hits a day. My site is link removed
