Please know that Jusun has not been talked to about this, so nothing is even close to being set in stone.

Having said that, what do you guys think about having a forum for 17+ members only that can have rated R (perhaps NC17?) content? There would be some kinks to work out, of course, such as verifying member age. There would definitely have to be some type of honor system involved, to some extent.

This would give people of a more mature age the opportunity to post subject matter they are not able to post in the Community Center. I've seen this work very well on another forum.

Thoughts? Hate mail? Love mail? shifty.gif

this may encourage "that sort of talk" in other places, and people could always lie about their age, or take advantage of the forum.

Hence the honor system Rebecca mentioned. But we are not liable for anything that happens if people choose to lie about their age.

only-tuesdays: Most active CreateBlog members are 17+.

Well, this sort of came about (in my head) because of this sentiment I've felt lately from others regarding not being able to post > PG13 content and the idea of adding something to the Community Center that would allow people to feel free to post such content. I'm not even sure Jusun will even go for this, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right?

I brought it up Backstage and then brought it up here, to see what the community might think of it. You don't see a need, that's totally alright. That's why it's in Feedback, to get opinions. =)

I've been to a few forums who have mature content sections for 18+ members only. Most of them set a minimum post count as well as age verification.

I think it's a good idea, I mean, there are topics there that discuss sex, sex positions, in a more explicit way that might not be appropriate for younger audiences.

As long as it doesn't turn into a place full of explicit internet memes or the like that I see from 4chan's /b/tards, then it's all good. Although it's not really a forum that I would want to visit, since I am unaware of what might actually be posted there if such a forum is created.

Do you mean giving cB as a WHOLE a bad name? I mean think about about it: If someone randomly came to createBlog, they'd probably look at the layouts/graphics/scripts/tutorials or go to the resource center. What are the chances of them clicking on the Rated R forum? I don't think cB would be given a bad name

Which brings up another idea - Maybe you can set up the forum so that only members can view the Rated R forums. That way, spectators won't be able to view it, and know nothing about it. shrug.gif

I only suggest this if you do consider having such a forum, which doesn't not really interest me that much (but there is a chance that it could in the future, depending on what content is posted in it).

I don't think thats a bad idea, I think thats kind of what we had in mind. We would have to have a agreement before you entered and stuff that you are of age to view the forum so its not our problem in any way. But having it now viewable by only members and other higher positions sounds good.

Keep out the perverts XD

Putting a bad name on createblog, or a bad image? I don't really see it happening. Its just something else that would fall under interests, it may not be the most active forum or anything. But it will be there for those that want to use it.

I think it would give the forums a bad name. I don't really think it woudl affect the resources section. Those are like two COMPLETELY different sides of CB.

When I see a forum that has a rated R board, I think less of the forum. Plus, it might seem like we are trying to use the R rated board to attract more people to the forums.

Just my opinion...

You mentioned forums at first, but then you said "it will give CB a bad name" without explicitly stating that you were still talking about cB. I just assumed that you were talking about CB as a whole. shrug.gif It's cool though. I just wanted clarification. And yes they are completely two difference sides of cB, but there is still a sense of integration.

As for the forum - they're thinking about having it so that only members can view the forums. As for attracting more members, eh, it could, or it could not. shrug.gif

I don't see it accomplishing much. I say raise the forum rating to be R and allow others to come at their digression. I mean it's not like it being R is going to change much, it'll just help the mods get that stick out of their ass.

I say raise the forum rating to be R and allow others to come at their digression.I mean it's not like it being R is going to change much, it'll just help the mods get that stick out of their ass.

One other thing to remember is, the google ads on the site will be affected by the R-rated posts. So r-rated ads would be displayed on the site.

Really? Definately had me fooled. lol

Well, I think it can be a good idea. If it is going to be a place for some mature discussion. Not necessarily sexual, but just mature all the way around. Maybe even naming it something other than "Rated R Forum" would help.

Well if this were to go forth, of course that it would not just be a place for sexual antics and non pg-13 content. You can have mature conversation there if you would like to. The name will not necessarily be the Rated "R" Forum... That is just something that it is called now, because we don't know what to call it. Any suggestions?
