Yesterday I got my first period. I had the usual brown discharge that I read about online. But today, the second day of my period, it started smelling bad, any suggestions to why it is doing this?

That's never happened to me; you're probably smelling blood which is normal, but it's never supposed to be bad, but I know you can smell your own blood, but if other people smell you, it's a problem, I hope you're changing your pad or tampon often because if not, you can smell bad from that, bathe & if that doesn't work, try talking to your doctor if a smell continues

How long after first getting your period did you change your pad? If you're changing it every four to six hours as is recommended, you should try changing it every three hours so that there's less blood collected in the pad, thereby reducing or getting rid of the bad smell.

not changing your thing for a while + Stupid Blood + Oxygen = Bad smell.
Just change your thing every few hours and you should be fine. |

Deffinitely make sure that you're changing your pads often. If you didn't notice a smell until now, that's what it more than likely is.
