i think the absent thread in the lounge should be pinned again. maybe if we could easily access a list of who's actually absent, we (the community) would be less inclined to just think staff's activity as a whole sucks right now. does anyone other than jusun, who doesn't even post on the forums or have a use for the thread, think that it's unnecessary? if so then help me understand why, and how having it is a problem.

I'm putting a vote in to have it pinned again. I think that the community wants it (from the general vibe I'm getting) and that it would be the best way for staff to communicate absences/lack of activity.

i'm not really for people making their own threads either. diana made her own thread, and two weeks later people were asking where she was. the thread gets bumped off the page, we all forget about it. then we have to hunt down that thread, which is unnecessary if we had our organized pinned method.

I like the idea of one pinned thread as opposed to making individual threads for the reason(s) that JC has stated. We'll have to just to a better job of maintaining the thread and pruning old absent posts when the OP returns.

I agree. I think it would be better to just have the Absent Thread pinned again. (as compared to making own threads or leaving a note in a signature).

Done. It's a simple enough situation to resolve, so I went ahead and created a new topic that is now pinned in The Lounge.

Yeah, you looked like a dumbass posting that. No one cares that you left, obviously, so just leave next time.

Having the notice in your signature is a good method (and one I will be using from now on), but we now have the absent topic back so everyone will be kept up to date when staff members are gone.

Since it's back, I believe this can be resolved. Let me know if you feel otherwise (JC or anyone else) before I do so.
