I make xanga layouts, and I'd really like to progress to a more advanced level of the 'art'.

Is there a code that enables you to make DIV layouts? Or is that a really complex set-up that requires years and years of experience and really advanced tools?

Help please?

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum. I can never get the sections right!

You're in the right forum.
I'm not too good with Xanga layouts, but I would think its just like making a normal div, with different classes.

It wouldn't take advanced tools, but to get good it may take some experience.

But there must be a particular code to make a layout look rather like this:

http://www.createblog.com/layouts/code.php?id=27128

Or

http://www.createblog.com/layouts/code.php?id=24388

That.

And I don't want to go around stealing codes...Is there somewhere that shares such codes and offers them to you for you to use? I looked on this site, but I wasn't excatly sure what I was looking for.

I think they just photoshopped a background image.

I think they just photoshopped a background image.

But they place it in such interesting locations. Such as where the boxes are. And sometimes they have imagemapping on the side of the scrollboxes.

Does that mean you know of no such coding?

I'm curious as to what kind of layouts you're used to making.

There's an extensive collection of tutorials here on CreateBlog. Here is the list of HTML tutorials. This topic teaches you how to make a layout using divs (there are several different tutorials in the topic, because each person does it differently).

This tutorial explains some of the basics of using divs.

As for image mapping.....
This tutorial teaches you how to image map using paint.
This one teaches how to image map using Photoshop.
This one teaches how to do it using Firefox.

Hope you can find something that helps you. :]

Div codes are basically just like a layout that covers up the page like a blanket O.o

There are a lot of tutorials on the internet. Search on google or yahoo. But if you will be more specific as to what the layouts are for (MySpace, or website templates) then it would be easier for others to help you.

I used to be really into making layouts.. on xanga..

and you can go to my site www.xanga.com/xwhoakid_lyts

I don't really use those layouts anymore, but if you'd like to use the codes for the div ones, and just mess around with those, and get yourself familiar with it, you can.
