All right, so my girlfriends birthday is coming up soon, and I haven't the slightest clue what to do for her. We've been together for nearly two years, and yes, unfortanately, we do live apart. During the last two years I've written her two letters, made some cards, and left her a message singing happy birthday to her. I'm not the kind of guy to repeat myself a lot; I like new things and giving surprises. But with being so far apart it's difficult. And yes, I do know that I could send her a present. I've asked her several times if I could, but she says she doesn't want me to just buy her things. She likes presents from the heart, I guess. Anyway, I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give me any ideas. thumbsup.gif

Thank you.

you could make her a little book? filled with memories of your relationship. like little inside things you guys have together. i'm kind of doing that right now.

how far apart do you guys live? maybe you can make her cupcakes/brownies/cookies and send it to her.

I've thought of doing something like that. I'm not very creative though, so I'm not sure how it would turn out. And we live quite a while away from each other. Cupcakes/brownies/cookies wouldn't do. But thank you for the reply.

How far apart?
Even if it's not on her birthday, you could drive/fly to her area, and surprise her with tickets to a concert, or something like that, or send them to her.
And if you can't get yourself there, make a lifesized cut out of yourself and send it to her with a cute note or something.

yea, kinda sounds silly, but im sure she'd like it (:

Yeah I can't make it out there. I've got way too many things going on here. Lifesized cut out? laugh.gif That is a little silly, and yes I'm sure she'd probably like that haha. I'll consider it though, thanks a lot. thumbsup.gif

get a disposable camera.
get a stuffed animal.
get some beads with letters and some string.
get a friend.

stick the bracelet/necklace whatever it is you make her on the stuffed animal, and go to a million places with camera and friend taking pictures.

get the pictures developed and mail them to her so she gets it on her birthday.

send the stuffed animal/trinket the day after + a letter.
have fun!

.....
this is the kind of stuff i get my friends for their birthday. ^_^

Or, send her a box with 7 presents, one for each day leading up to her birthday, or if she's during like, 19, send her 19, and tell her to open the first 19 days before.
They can be little things like notes and candy.
and for the one she opens on her birthday make it something nice like a necklace or something.

QUOTE
she says she doesn't want me to just buy her things

I'm pretty sure that what women say and what they mean are two entirely different things biggrin.gif Buying presents for a girl is an absolute nightmare. If you don't know what shes after, then try to remember anything that she had an interest in and get something related to that. Does she have an amazon wish list perhaps? Lots of people create one, without realising that other people can see them - have a look, you might find something good there.

You have to get a t least one sentimental gift in their. Men are all gadgets and functional, but often women want something with a little more meaning. Perhaps theres a photo of the two of you together you could frame?

Lastly, why not make a gift box. Get a shoebox and wrap it up nicely, fill it full of smaller gifts individually wrapped and make the whole thing nice and presentable. Everyone likes getting lots of presents, even if its full of little trinkets and sweets.

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I wasn't planning on getting so many, so I haven't checked this in a bit. But thanks everyone. I'll try to work with one of these suggestions and see how it goes.
