Yes! Eugh! How irritating! I loved the layout I submitted, and then that Mike kid got rid of it like a day after it was up...

He mentioned something about image quality but I compleatley disagreed with him. It already had a bunch of favorites, too.

Ahh, oh well, that was a long time ago.

Yes, lots. I've had a number of layouts, both old and fairly recent, deleted. The older ones I can understand, but the newer ones? I was kinda ehh about it. Part of the reason why I went away for a while.

The mods do house cleaning once in a while; that is, they go through all the graphics that have been accepted and if they feel one isn't up to the current standards (which may or may not have been changed after your graphic was accepted), they delete/reject it.

Also, one mod may think it's up to standards and another may not, so one may accept it and a while later a different mod may delete it.

Plenty of times, but not enough to lose track of how many times it happened, and mostly over image quality, now I save as PNG's to avoid that.

I don't. I think it makes everything look cluttered and distracts from the content. The monotony of the colors also bother the hell out of me. I can't really stand to look at it for more than 10 seconds. But that's just my opinion.

lol, that's really funny coming from you.

I don't submit layouts to cB because it's a waste of time. I used to offer graphics and website/xanga layouts at my site, and I've submitted plenty of tutorials at other forums, but I stopped because I hate the upkeep and sharing things that took time and effort on my part. I generally do not create anything that doesn't have a personal meaning for me and I don't like depersonalizing my work by letting other people grab at it.

If I'm going to waste my time to design something for somebody else, I'm going to get paid - which I have. I give enough to the community IRL, kthx.

Actually, I kinda have to agree with him. Not so much the whole cluttered part, but the monotony of colors part. There's no change between the background color and the background of the modules, which makes it kind of.......... well, boring. shrug.gif

cb goes housecleaning every once in awhile. they review layouts/tutes/graphics and if they're not up to par, they get rejected. and just because someone does not submit designs, it does not mean that they can't criticize. Frankly, I agree with Melissa. cB's standards have gone way down, and I'm glad that they re-review things that they accept.

You can't be serious Melie. That design is absolutely crap. Anyone could make that. You didn't do anything special to the layout at ALL. You just added two banners to an already default looking layout, and a boring background color. Even I could make a layout better than that in only an hour.

I'm going to agree with Tung in a euphemistic sense.

It's always a good idea to browse through CB's recent resource threads before submitting something. I'd have rejected that layout as well.

As for being accepted, and then rejected, I have a feeling the acceptance was overridden by HS, or another DS. They should have told you why. If not, go ahead and PM them for an explanation.

Generally, HS, and some DS go back and review the recently rejected and accepted layouts to make sure that's where they belong. And since we're kicking up our standards, its a little harder to get standard layouts that aren't stellar in since standard layouts are so basic.

well if you submitted the same script more than once then of course they will reject it. the first time, there must have been a good reason for rejecting it. but if you just keep on re-submitting it & re-submitting it, of course they will reject it. especially if the same person reviews it. mellow.gif

I don't know, I think it was a little odd that you made a topic about this, it makes you seem like your offended by something like this happened.

When we get new staff that are able to help out in the queue, their usually not use to what the standards are so they just accept stuff that aren't up to the standards. Also times its copyright issues. I told you why your layout was rejected and told you what to to to get it back here.

Anyway, overall, yes this happens to a lot people. And I apologize over and over for it, I don't think anyone should get so offended by it. We're all humans and we make mistakes, just get over it, fix what they told you to do, and submit it and move on.

CB has honestly really stepped up their standards. but then again, there are still some pretty no offense to anyone but, there are some pretty like ................. layouts, scripts, graphics, tutorials, just stuff that you'd be like.......are you kidding?

honestly, there are some people who think their graphics are the best just because they 1. have photoshop and 2. downloaded brushes

then they make layouts with just a crap load of brushes that you could probably identify because you probably have them too.

but you don't see cb rejecting those. haha not hating, i swearrr. anyway, just fix what they tell you to fix, honestly. no worries, they'll always accept it if you bring it up to their standards. it could be...that there is already a script like yours.

i once got a tutorial rejected but they kindly explained to me that my images weren't showing up, but that's because i used html format instead of the forum's format..what is it called, bbc? yeah. everyone's gotten a rejected something before! but don't give up!!

Well currently we have a few people that are new and haven't ever had experience in the queue so they don't exactly know what to expect and they just kind of accept anything that looks good I guess? It's going to take some time. And to be honest, Trish isn't around anymore so I think the standards are going to kind of fall a little again. Trish was a big reason why the standards were being brought up. And now without her around I think they are kind of going to go back to where they were before, kind of sad in my opinion. But perhaps it will give everyone a bigger chance of getting their stuff accepted. I have pretty high standards I do say, I go strictly by the rules, I'm not a real big rule breaker, even in real life. Quite sad sad.gif But anyway,

^Yea now we have a preview button so we can see if the tutorial looks good with our format, its not very hard to figure out (our format) usually if it isn't a lot of changes the staff person may change it for you, at least I would to save them the trouble but still PM them and tell them to put in the right format next time. Also the big thing about scripts now, we can't really keep up with what we have now. See if any of you remember, we use to have scripts up on the forums a while back. I thought it was a lot more organized and we could easily check back to see if we had the script already and we could regularly check to make sure all the scripts were up to date and all, and now that they aren't on the forums anymore, I guess its more of a hassle to go through them. I've been waiting to go through them, always having it in the back of my mind to go through them again and delete all the multiples, but I just haven't had the time.

agreed. all you can really do is use our suggestions to help you.

but when people take it personally, it's irritating because i'm not trying to put you down at all. i'm taking the time to write out valuable criticism. at least i don't say stuff like "yeah it sucks. go fix it."

if you can't humble yourself and accept the advice, then sorry but you need to toughen up.
