Here you go -

Discuss potential hirings here. Please, feel free to express what your honest opinions are, but let's keep it civil. Please refrain from bashing, needless name calling and do your best to keep it relevant.

I would like to limit the hiring thread to nominations/interest (with reasons, please, if you could. xD).

Well...seeing as we need more design staff options, CrochetTheLeaper might be an option. It looks like she helps out around there, designs, and might be fairly active. Granted I've never seen her around before today, but her post history is decent recently.

I also will like to nominate Elba. She was already People Staff once and did a good job, so why not?

I think it would be interesting to see Elba and Christina on staff/how they interact with the rest of the staff.

It'd be nice to see a lot of us on staff and how we'd interact, but since none of the staff likes us, they wouldn't be willing to make that move. Maybe that's why this place is falling about.

WTF? Who are all these people that are popping out of nowhere and saying they should be staff?

How about you post up a few paragraphs about your qualifications, Thomas?

In my opinion, staff members aren't machines. They're a big member of the cB community as a whole and, while they have a responsibility, they still need to keep up their characters and be a human. True, sometimes they'll have to do something they don't want to do, but does it mean they have to "show no remorse"?

No offense, but you strike me as a sort of bland member of this community and as someone who's been in and out of cB and seen it change/rotate staff for over four years, I don't think you would make a good staff member. While I do think that staff members should be professional, I think they should first and foremost be people. Not ban/warn/feel-no-remorse machines.

There's my professional opinion.

How long does it take to reach a decision about who to add and who not to? I mean, you guys have had a few days to think this through.

Thomas, I don't understand why you think previously having held the title of staff member makes someone qualified to again hold that title. They obviously left for a reason. You don't only say this about yourself, but you just said it about Anastasia up there ("she knows what she's doing, she can do the job, mostly becuase she's done it alrady"). Why do you think just because they've done it once they can do it again, when they left because something was wrong?

I was a staff member way the hell longer than you were, and I am in no way qualified to be one again right now. I'm not at all committed to this site and I only come around when I have nothing better to do. I really don't care at all and would probably step down within a month due to the apathy and constant rolling of eyes over Backstage nonsense. So, clearly, not a reason to hire someone.

I think Thomas fails at seeing that no one really wants him on staff.

That is MY professional opinion.

This is the first time I've fully read your posts. I tend to skip it b/c I don't like the small font, but I actually took the time to read it this time. And that was pure ownage I would say. thumbsup.gif

However, I think that when someone is ready to be back on staff, and willingly puts themself into a hiring thread, to be back on staff. they are telling everyone that they will uphold their commitment.
That is completely false, especially after your second falling out when I was on staff with you. You didn't uphold any commitment and blamed it on other people. Why on earth would they give you a third chance if you bitch and then cause a scene when you leave?

I feel a bit awkward here stepping into this topic due to my slight couple-week-long inactivity-ness but after reading through these posts I'm just going to state that I agree a thousand percent with what Ersatz stated up there. If my memory retracts correctly, this isn't the first time you've stepped out an opinion almost exactly like this, Thomas. And uh, since I don't want to ramble on and on here, I'm just going to say that it's not that I/we don't hate you but it's just that I think you need to neutralize your opinion to the furthest extent. Sorry, but I just don't think your words are cutting it through people's minds. shrug.gif That's all.

Thomas, I know I asked you for your qualifications, but I'm beginning to realize that the more you type/ramble, the more I stand by my original standpoint that you don't really seem like someone who'd be effective on staff. Sorry, but that's just my (professional) opinion.

YOU WERE GONE FOR ALMOST A MONTH! THAT IS NOT A COMMITMENT!

You've gotten 2 chances. Both times you've stepped down. Both times you took a hiatus because you didn't want to be around/deal with drama. Why is this different?

lol I remember when I was gone for a month and got demoted to mentor and then to official member. I hardly had any internet access and I was out of town that whole summer (2006-ish, I believe). Regardless, I know the people who were on staff with me at that time must've been really disappointed in me and in no way do I think that I deserve to be automatically be on staff again just because I was admin before.

QUOTE
Q:why do you think you'll have more time for staff now?

A:I will be graduating in two or three weeks (may) whenever that is. I will have more time for staff, becuase I will have more time in general, I'm pretty much a loner outside of the internet, all my friends are just school friends, I don't go to parties, or hang out with people, I occassionaly date, but never get into anything serious, becuase of my own insecurties. I spend a great deal of my time on the internet now, trying to make it a focal point of my future, having an online job, and online business. I just feel in general as well as practical that I will have more time for cB, and cB staff

So you're like the male version of trash?
As I said before, to be a good staff member, you should also be good with handling people.

QUOTE(doublehelix @ Apr 21 2008, 11:18 PM) *
well, i've justified my reasoning why I think having the title is a solid qualification.

Most of the time, someone steps down because they don't have the resources to maintain the responsibility left for staff. Had it not been for my first natural causing event, the second would have never came up.

However, I think that when someone is ready to be back on staff, and willingly puts themself into a hiring thread, to be back on staff. they are telling everyone that they will uphold their commitment.

I think you may have twisted the meaning of experiance/longevity on staff, because I can't say what kind of staff member you were, because I hardly noticed you other than when you were admin. To me, and I said Anastasia, being on staff, should qualify someone if they stepped down, rather than being demoted. Becuase, I have never seen someone step down from a staff postion, and become more active as a member.

I wasn't demoted, ever. Three and a half years on staff total I believe? Somewhere around there. Not demoted. Definitely stepped down. :) I also definitely became more active as a member...the higher you move up, the more stupid, worthless shit you have to deal with. So, I was on the same amount of time, I just didn't post nearly as much cause I was preoccupied with modsmanship.

Disproven.

Well yes, but you said that those that merely stepped down and were not demoted are more than qualified to retake their position. I already said why I was not. Years, even months, later, people are completely different people. You seem to be failing to understand this.

Or, they may not be different at all, and thus will not be a great moderator for the same exact reason that they weren't before.

I just wanted to point out specifically in response to the question of what's taking so long..

Not everyone has been interviewed just yet and we are not in any extreme hurry at the moment. It won't be too terribly long, though.
