Hello - it's that time again.

We would like to know who may be interested in becoming a staff member, or if there's anyone that you would like to see on staff.

Please post in this thread if you are interested and/or who you think should be hired. It would be greatly appreciated if you could give a reason as to why you (or who you are suggesting) would be a good addition to staff. Please specify People Staff or Design Staff.

I'll repeat something that was mentioned in the last hiring thread regarding potential Design Staff:

Especially for Design staff, dont be afraid to nominate yourself if you have a low amount of posts but you have a lot of great contributions. We may still consider you, we may not. But we'll never know if you dont put your name out there.

We do not have a definite time frame yet, but this should take no longer than a couple of weeks (depending on how long this thread remains open).

Also, one more thing (then I promise to hush, for a while at least xD), please don't spam in this thread. =)

Let's analyze:

I’ve previously been on Design staff and MySpace staff, on two different occasions.

And what happened on the second occasion?

I know the amount of work that is required of any staff member, as well as how much commitment they must have for the site, and the drive of passion to want to help others.

Yet, you were inactive for almost a month the second time you were hired, and then came back and bitched that you were the only one doing work when you did jack shit.

With my combined 8 months of experience on staff, I think that time, alone can qualify someone for staff.

Did you subtract you absences while you held the position?

I developed the Design Staff HQ to act as a base for all DS activity.

I already talked to Dani when James was promoted. One person isn't going to do the make/break decision. I have a good feeling that this hiring isn't going to be based on popularity, or your relationships with the mods, but your actual reasoning and qualifications for being on staff.

Well, I'm going to be candid, but then I'd really really like it if people could just keep this thread to nominations (and reasons why. I like reasons why. They make me happy).

What it boils down to is this, even though you may have concerns about Trish's objectivity, the entire staff will discuss everyone listed. The final decision will rest with the entire upper staff, and if there isn't some kind of agreement there, it will rest upon Sarah, Dani and myself. Of the three of us, I can't pick out/see any vendetta's or negative biases. So if that makes you feel any better, cool. If not, well I tried. lol

I believe that they are capable of facilitating change, seriously considering change, and working well with others in order to ensure the greatest benefits of change.

I will briefly elaborate on my self-promotion: Although it is true that my last staff position (people's) was short lived, it is not true that I was unfair or (unreasonably) short with the membership here. I am perfectly capable of maintaining a certain degree of professionalism, against my more passionate judgments. My reasons for leaving resembled more an exhaustion and apathy, than they did anything else. However, I feel much more exuberant and active here today. There are changes occurring and a lot of reform being discussed. I care for Createblog, and especially the community here. This is why I want to be on people's staff. I feel that if I am closer to the administrative bodies, I will have a larger voice in policy change. Further, I feel that I have a lot to contribute. People's staff is certainly about moderating the boards, and I would accept the responsibilities fully, However, I hope to have a larger influence on the future of Createblog. You all, for the most part, are aware of my abilities as well as my weaknesses.

I would perhaps being interested in people staff, but don't think that I would really have a chance on getting it again. I have done the job and been pretty dannng good at it. My only fault was my activity level, which the second time around plummeted after finding out my sister had cancer and then going back to college a month afterwards. Being on staff takes a lot more commitment than I think most people know, and you gotta have balls to take your friends down.

Nat, it'd be more helpful if you specified People or Design. The staff shouldn't have to choose for you if we seriously consider hiring you, and we also wouldn't want to put you in a section where you didn't enjoy working.

No. People Staff moderate the Community Center. Design Staff moderate the Resource Center and go through the queue. Only Head Staff and admins have power in all three sections.

Betty, though I don't think I've talked to her one-on-one, gets along with (most?) people and has pretty good judgement as far as I can tell.
