I'm sure everybody's felt superior to some people and inferior to others at some point in their lives. What makes you feel this way? Is it age? Respect? Knowledge, education, personality, etc?

I know when I'm in the presence of someone I have tons of respect for, I feel a bit inferior despite whatever age they are.

I think that's more like idol-worship more than feeling inferior. For me, impressing someone I have a lot of respect for is more difficult for me to do than if that respect didn't exist. That...made sense in my head.

I feel superior to a lot of people. I have impossible standards (even for myself to achieve) and I'm judgemental as heck. It's a um, work-in-progress. laugh.gif

Usually, I try not to think or act like I'm better than other people (I do, though. :/ ). I typically only feel superior to someone else if they're less intelligent than me.
Every once in a while, I might (as terrible as it sounds) feel like I'm better than someone of their clothes are hideous or they're really, really ugly or something.

I agree. I feel superior to people a lot more than I ever feel inferior ... I guess I just didn't want to be the first to admit it, lol.

If it's a middle-aged person who suffers from alcoholism and only completed middle school, then I feel superior. But for the most part, I don't feel superior to anyone.

I'm most critical with how people talk and verbally present themselves. If they're surprisingly eloquent, I respect them faster than not. I'm not sure about "superiority." I don't really view people in that light. They're probably better than me at something I am not aware of, even if I were to think of them as inferior.

In reality.. no one's better than anyone. Because we all experienced life differently, all learned things differently, all have different abilities. Like I can't dunk on a 10 foot rim... I can touch the rim... but there's a person out there who's even shorter than I... smaller built than me and can slam the shit out of a 10 foot rim.

But if we all stopped for a minute, had self knowledge, gained self strength, and then get to know our neighbors... or brothers and sisters (other humans), then we as a human specie... a race can be more superior than anything. We can learn to build together in knowledge and physical attributes, but I don't see that happening no where near soon.

Of course.

But that doesn't stop you from posting everywhere and talking down to as many ppl as you can, dismissing them as a bunch of stupid teenagers. ;)

I really think it's human nature to push ourselves up on our own scale and everybody down. I know I'm not any better than the person next to me, but because of ___, ___, and ___, in my head, I am.

I feel superior to someone when they lack character; people who are dull, ignorant, lifeless... And pretty much a waste of space.

And I'm not talking about the stereotypical alcoholic, the drop-out, or the farmer; they could very well be interesting and full of wisdom if you gave them a chance. That's why I try not to be too judgemental... But, I can't help it sometimes.

But, whenever I see those people who are dull, and who don't know how to make conversation without bitching and moaning about the lives they lead that thousands of others would feel blessed to have... God, I just feel so much better than them. And it feels so good! innocent.gif

So this topic was my way to secretly get Tampon to tell us why he's oh-so-much better than the rest of us. I didn't want to ask directly for fear of being rude, but in light of recent developments and me not caring whether I'm rude to him or not...

Tama, what makes you better than the rest of us? Is it because you think you're older? More educated? Have more muscle mass?

Enlighten us. Please.

My dedication to knowledge. It's an addiction... that's all. Muscle means nothing nor any other physical attribute. Education/experience is powerful. I'm not better than anyone, like no one's better than me.

If you really cared to know you would have read on the first page:

But you speak/post as if you know something we don't know. Like you're superior and we're all little teenagers that know nothing.

I'm educated and am dedicated to gaining knowledge, and instead of ignoring points other people make, I think it's important to embrace different ideas and try to see multiple sides in every argument. Which you don't.

That's the thing, I read people's points. The ones that catch my interest (because it's a new point I came across) is the ones I address. So when you post 3 paragraphs and I only quote one of your paragraphs, it's no disrespect, nor any sort of disregard... it's just I've already went down that path and it's not even eligible to be debated about or re-acknowledged, we'd just be wasting time and space on this forumboard.

Do you know what 360 degree of knowledge is? That's what I commit to. 360 degree of knowledge is cross referencing as a whole. From the both sides and the neutral. This is how you're supposed to think... to try and debunk your own thoughts as well as you can... to try to figure out what are all the wrong to find the right. The right or the fact never comes out as first... you must realize the wrong to realize the right.

Do you know anyone who's a Mason?... Or have a lodge near your location? Try to get some info on what type of studies they do.

You completely missed my point. I'm not even talking about your posts in the Debate forum and how you attempt to argue your points. I'm referring to how you put everybody down (in general, see relationship forum) and dismiss it as "you're just a teenager" or something to that effect.

Oh that's simple... cuz the young is stupid. They're supposed to be. There's no such thing as a baby genius that knows it all. It takes time... takes ages to experience "experience". LOL Ask your mom, ask her... are young people stupid, then become well educated/informed later on?

While we're young, we act like we know it all... our parents say no, and we're like haha fawk that I'm doin it anyways cuz I know I can do it better than my parents. Or ever had a friend who sat there and try to explain him/herself how dropping out of school, working for a living is better than stayin in school and payin for college then gettin into a career? That's stupidity, they think they know it all. I was the same way... most of us are this way by nature. But then I was taught the lessons, and when I got out of line or acted like I knew more than others, I got my official beat downs.

Teachers teach students and students teach their teachers, this is how we're supposed to educate.

But see, you dismiss everyone as being young and stupid and a lot of times, the people you're accusing of being nothing but a teenager aren't always just teenagers who don't know anything.

Answer me this. Is an eighteen year old who's going to a great college like Princeton (gag), more stupid than the 25 year old flipping burgers in McDonalds?

Age isn't everything.

The question is... does the kid attending Princeton have street smarts that the 25 year old who's flippin burgers has?

Fact of the matter is... knowledge and experience have to go hand in hand.

No one's better than no one... but when we speak of experience/knowledge, age in fact can make a huge difference, because of experience itself. You shouldn't leave experience out of the equation of knowledge, that's just foolish.

Anyways, goodnight... time to go home.

That's the thing! You have no clue what the people you're talking down to have been through. So stop acting like you're better.

And yes, the 18 year old in Princeton's been through a shit load of hard-ass experiences. You'd be surprised. Some of them have probably been through shit that nobody here will ever have a chance to experience in their entire lifetime.

But see, I'm not going to say that like it's a fact because I don't KNOW what people here have been through.

I can honestly say that feeling superior isn't something I readily identify with. I am confident in certain things that other people may not be so confident in.

For example, I'm pretty confident that I know how to take care of a child, a child with autism, on my own with no help from the other parent, better than any of you here can. At least at this point in life. I'm sure at one point many of you will have similar parenting experience (to a degree), so in the future I will not know anything more than you know in that regard.

Having that particular knowledge doesn't make me better or superior at all. I think that even though people may have something that they can learn from you, it doesn't mean that you are any better than them. It means you have something that you have knowledge you can share. It's a simple way of looking at things, but truly, I'm a pretty simple person.

I'm going to skip over the street smarts versus book smarts debate. That argument has gone on forever and no one ever wins. There's positive aspects in both. If you can find a way to somehow mesh the two, awesome.

Did he/she go through some hard ass experiences or do you think they did?... What kind of hard ass experience? Made fun of for wearing glasses? whistling.gif

lol jk

Yeah, I bet he was made fun of for wearing glasses. Then again, after watching half of his family members die while his town was under attack and then having to sneak across country borders all alone before the age of thirteen, he probably doesn't care much about what people say about his appearance. We're not all superficial like you.

lol, don't attempt irony when you have no idea what you're talking about.

What exactly do you do with your life besides trolling around forums and trying to one up other people (which you completely fail at, btw)?

Take your time answering because I, unlike you, am attempting some REAL knowledge and heading off to class now. Later, turd.

no. it seems like you made a lot of assumptions about what she was explaining, and talked down to her the whole time. so i duno, just because you don't say f**k YOU BITCH to someone, doesn't mean you aren't provoking them.

i mean i'd rather you tell me to f**k off then talk down to me, shrugs. i think a lot of people around here feel that way. so i don't know if your definition of provoking is really accurate or not, unless you're taking that into consideration.

Usually, I try not to think or act like I'm better than other people (I do, though. :/ ). I typically only feel superior to someone else if they're less intelligent than me.
Every once in a while, I might (as terrible as it sounds) feel like I'm better than someone of their clothes are hideous or they're really, really ugly or something.

yeah, i feel the same way u do. about the clothes thing i mean. i don't always feel like i'm better than people... but i do have my moments. i don't know about feeling inferior. i really don't have a just definition of what it means. can anyone help me out?

Why are you forcing us to get off topic? I answered your question as to where I went to get an education. What's your problem? What's the point? Let the thread go back on topic already =\
