If the two people are fully commited, then yes, a relationship can work. If they aren't commited, then no. |

LOL You do realize people get lonely... they find another mate and never tell, right? =\ Anyone who claims that long distance relationships work (thus meaning there's no seeing each other at any given time for a long period of time because of the distance) is either bullshitting or they're lil kids who have relationships on the internet. Which is quite laughable as I stated before. |

i think it depends on how strong the relationship was before it became distant. trust, communication and respect are the 3 most important things in a relationship and if you don't have all of them, then the relationship won't work.

People are different so if the couple can really work on dedicating their time and putting their effort into the relationship, I don't see why there isn't a chance for a good relationship to be formed.

Yeah but... you're basically having a relationship over the phone and internet. You might as well be friends. Like I mentioned before, if you met prior to the distance separation, say the man or woman goes to the military, then maybe it could work out... because there's a specific reason why they're gone and hopefully they'll come back.
But then again... think about guys, now a days guys are just plain out horn dogs. What makes a female think that he's not gonna go sleep around with other women to get his nut off?... Long distance relationships are simply a waste of time =\ For example my friend, who's still in the NAVY, and still stationed in Japan; brags about how many Japanese females he has one night stands with. Then when he's with his girl, he doesn't make any mention about what he's done. But whatever, I'm done with this topic. I guess it just depends on the couple and the situation. In my opinion but not from experience just from others' experiences, it just doesn't work. |

it does work. true story.
as long as the two are really committed to one another. and when i mean committed, i mean like both of them wouldn't cheat on the other. and believe it or not, its true. of course its hard, you'll miss him/her a lot, think about them 24/7. but in the end when they come to visit or whatever, its all worth seeing their face. |

=\ After watching Jug Head (I think that's the name of the movie) I realized even if you're in the military and married, your wife might just be a slut and sleep with the nasty bastard next door lol lol I love how you come to this conclusion over...I'm sorry, what? oh a movie! haha. long distance relationships work. as melie stated, "trust, communication and respect" are essential; the reason why most long distance relationships fail is because only a rare/small amount of people actually have the dedication, persistence, and loyalty necessary to keep the relationship alive, oh and don't forget the other 3 qualifications. your stupid friend's relationship didn't work because well, he's an idiot and obviously doesn't give a shit about the relationship he's in. poor girl. and if you don't have the balls to tell your friend's girl that he's a manwhore, kudos to you! so then, why wouldn't a relationship without (man)whores, given the fact that all other essentials previously stated are met, work? |

Frankly, I don't see the point. I'm sure it'd work for a little while, but in the end why bother? Just be good friends. Date someone you can actually date.

Yep ![]() lol I love how you come to this conclusion over...I'm sorry, what? oh a movie! haha. I gotta keep in mind I'm talkin to a lot of middleschool/highschool kids. Ask your parents or actual adults with plenty of experience. Don't take my word for it. |

Which is quite laughable as I stated before. Well I disagree...I'm not a lil kid & I don't meet people off the internet let alone date them; that's for desperate people or weirdos. Anyway, I've been friends with my boyfriend for almost 6 yrs now & we've been dating for a yr. The only reason why our relationship is long distant is because he's in the Navy. I'm not going to lie at first we both didn't take our relationship seriously & I know I went out with other people but I didn't cross the line & cheat & he's never cheated. Everytime he had free time and got out of C-school he called me & we'd fall asleep on each other, now that he's deployed we email each other all the time; this is the most I've used my email. We have trust & anything else that happens if it happens we'd both deal with it accordingly if it transpires. Unless you've been in a long distance relationship you wouldn't know the half. So I don't care what people might think or say. I'm happy with my relationship & I'm well taken care of because I get to visit him often. |

I can't generalize. It might work out for some and it might not work out for others. Personally, I wouldn't get involved in a long distant relationship. I know I wouldn't be faithful. I admit it. No point in trying.

During the summer, my boyfriend and I live in different states. We made it work by video-chatting and talking on the phone multiple times a day. We also we fortunate enough to be able to come visit eachother. It takes commitment and control.
