Okay, so my friend is moving to China this summer for a year, but her dad has already been spending time there [they're moving 'cause of his job] and so he came back for spring break, and brought back some duck tongues he got there. That are supposed to be eaten. So a couple days ago my friend took one to school, and at lunch, my other friend opened it, and this slimey glob of duck tongue muscle slipped out of the little package.

I think it wouldn't be AS bad if it was like... jerky. That's how I was expecting it.

But like. blink.gif

Would any of you eat a duck tongue?

There's some people that eat cow tongue, which is just nasty. I wouldn't eat tongue from anything sick.gif just think of everything that thing touched.

People eat pretty weird stuff. I was watching this show where a guy ate chicken testicles.

So I guess a duck's tongue wouldn't be too bad in comparison. I'd have to get a couple of people around me to try it first though.

For a moment, i thought you were gonna say, "and so he came back for spring break, and brought back some cut up person" or something.
But no, i wouldn`t eat tongue from anything.

Haha, Austin. I was watching fear factor a looong time ago and people had to eat pig intestines, or something along those lines. I don`t know. Pretty weird.

Assuming a duck's tongue is in the shape of a worm... maybe.

Yeah I eat duck tongue all the time. It's really good! You'll never believe me, I know, haha.

I also eat cow tongue, and pig tongue, and I eat pig intestine too (and love it!) Actually I love it all.

Although saying it in English really grosses me out a bit. I think it's not as bad for me because it doesn't sound gross in Cantonese, and it's more like a regular food as opposed to: LOOK! PORK INNARDS!

Duck tongue is yummy! My family pretty much always orders it when we go dim-summing. Except, my sister once told me she thought it smells like 'grandma'... so that kind of grossed me out for a while. xD

No, I don't think that's what she meant. I think she just thought it smelled like older people. xD Something weird like that.

How about chicken heart? That same friend lived in Africa for 8 years, and they'd buy whole chickens and stuff, and she and her dad would fight over the heart. Until it really hit her that it was a heart.

I'm sure it tastes good. I just can't get over what it is. >.<

Oh, chicken heart is alright. Not my favourite though. I like chicken liver a lot more, and some other part of the chicken that's also weird but I don't know what to call in English.

To me, duck tongue tastes like smooth, tender chicken skin without all the fat. And there's a bit of cartilege that you eat along with the tongue, and in the back is a bony bit that you don't eat. At least, that's how we eat it.

And if you weren't grossed out enough already:

After watching a ton of "Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern" and "No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain" those things don't sound ALL that disgusting or weird anymore... Not sure if I'd still actually try them if I didn't have to though. blink.gif

A lot of the stuff on Andrew Zimmerman and Anthony Bourdain's shows don't look half-bad to eat. I'd admit that I've gotten hungry watching them eat a few of the bizarre foods they ate.

As for duck tongue, no, I don't think I would. That's like asking me to eat balut. I would never, ever go near the stuff.
