So im getting my first official car (as in the car im paying for my goddamned self.)

The question is; Should i lease? Or Should i buy?

I know all the pro's and con's but i mean i just dont really see how they differ. _unsure.gif

Does anyone out there own a leased car or Do you own a car you bought?

This is all so new to me.

If your a noob who has no car, dont bother

Leasin is basically renting. But of course they change the term to lease so it doesn't seem like you're cheap.

So if you rent or lease in other words, you cannot modify the car in any sort of way, you don't have the authority to. I don't even think you can add tints to the car. Nor an audio system I believe.

And I've purchased two cars on my own so far.

QFT

Definitely buy. Buy and bring someone with you (that you trust) to go over financing options. It's really better that way.

Also don't buy from the dealer, as they're there only to ass rape your bank account. Buy from Carmax, you'll get a niiiiice deal... better than the dealership.

im getting an 08 dodge challenger srt. there is a picture in a previous post.

and FYI i can only buy from the dealer because its a limited edition.

I was really throwing more for leasing because i only want to have it a couple years then trade it in for a newer one.

with everything its about 40k, my payments amonth are relatively LOW because i have fair credit.

im still very perplexed.

Ewwwwww..... well don't keep the car for more than 50k miles, you'll be spendin more money on the car fixing it than what it was first worth lol

@40k... with very good credit, you'll be lookin at around $350-400+ on payments and also keep in mind about how much auto insurance is o.O

also, it all really depends on the dealer. some dealers are anal with mods, some aren't. ask your local dealer before you do anything.

and 08 challenger? rofll, be a real (wo)man and get the srt-8. otherwise it's not worth buying american ATM.

Maybe in your town. But they sell new and used in mine.

And I'd also recommend not wasting your money on a brand new vehicle. But if you do lease and you plan to basically rent the car for a few years then change, go for it.

I guarantee you don't have the discount I have. I've got family who held their careers in GM, and they have many patents in GM cars today. They're valuable to GM :)

Uh, something fast as shit that you won't have to do anything to? Like the Z06 or the GT500 or the viper or the s500 or the m5 or the sti or the 911 turbo? Good luck.

Ah man wasn't it great when you were young and thought about buying a really fast or sexy ass car. Then you end up with a corolla only because your family recommended you start off with a starter car -.-

My first car, I still use O.o Mustang GT 340~ hp, 320~ torque. I love it, but at the same time wish I had picked up something w/ less miles starting (Mine had 88k) and something that got better than 17 mixed mpg.

They don't specifically sells crashed cars only. And the ones that have been crashed are stickered/labeled to let you know it's been in an auto accident. Then there's used and new vehicles as well.

So lets not downplay car max only because they "also" sell fixed crashed cars. =\

If the car has a dent and its repaired... that's cosmitic repair. Which is obviously sellable by anyone.

If the effing vehicle got hit by a train destroying the frame of the vehicle, obviously they're not gonna sell it. So I dunno what you've been talkin about.

my first car i bought. leasing is good for those who don't travel alot because also, it's about the mileage too i dunno if anyone mentioned that. my insurance was high at the time but only because i was under the age of 25. it's best to purchase a car that is in your price range but also will allow you to be able to pay for the insurance for it. i was told, i dunno if it's true, that if you purchase a red car, the insurance goes up too.

but, i would definitely suggest buying.

^ Cars that have a lot of plastic peices to them have a higher insurance cost, too. My insurance lady reminded me of that last week, because there's that whatchacallit number and the higher the number, the higher the insurance.

If your parents are going to be making the payments and the insurance payment, even if you're paying them to pay for it, buying is better. But if they choose to sign it over to you, the payments are probably going to be up. Just get someone that you trust to go with you and discuss all of your options when you're picking out your car.

if you plan on driving a lot, buy it.
buying = no limitations on what you can do to your car (after your warranty is up anyway, but some people do as they like)
leasing = restrictions, certain mileage, car has to be in this condition, etc etc.

i bought my car, and good thing i bought it too. i racked 42,000 miles already in less than two years.
plus, i think it's too much of a hassle to lease and change cars every x amount of years.
you ride it till it dies :)
