I want to learn how to do abstract art like shown in this example:
http://nkeo.deviantart.com/art/Carnival-71841953 I believe this is the pen tool, but does anyone know where I can find a tutorial to achieve this style? I use Photoshop CS2 |

Yes, it was made by mostly the pen tool. You can't really achieve that style because it's like one of those "personal style" where you have to be original, widely imaginative, and precise. You can possibly mimic the style and base on my knowledge.....
You would just have to mess with pen tool. I'm not a pen tool expert either but there are plenty tutorials on good-tutorials.com (search pen tool) or you can search it here. But I can get that weirdly shape with a pen tool by just messing around. So, just mess around with the pen tool. Also, you can see that the designer filled it with gradients (from light blue to dark blue, light red to dark red) and patterns. The designer also used splat brushes and use the sun-ray background, as well as a scratched out texture on top of it. Other then that, you can always ask the designer. (x |

I'm sure if you've mastered the pen tool by now, you could play around with it to make different shapes. Eventually you'll come up with something that looks just as appealing. But color choice does play a pretty big role in making abstract art too, of course.
