my CHI just broke down on me. & i wanted to see if anyone thought their was a better flat iron or if i should keep this one that i got. it's called a "zoe" but it's okay. like i don't have really thick hair or anything like that. people tell me i have "white girl hhair" no offense. but idk. does anyone think their is anything better? cuz i might jus get a pastel purple CHI to replace this Zoe that i got.

well i wasn't the previous owner..my bestfriend had it before me but she didn't really use it so she gave it to me. but i think it's a good one. i jus can't afford a $100+ iron. but sally's is having a sale on them so i think i may jus jump on that & get it in my fave color while i'm at it

They're really good iron's and yea they are expensive i paid $180 for mine i think but that brought the shampoo and conditioner and the keratin mist. it was pretty nice. In my opinion worth every penny.

I have very unmanageable hair so it was important that i got an iron that really did what it was suppose to FLAT IRON my hair and from personal experience the cheap ones did absolutely nothing for me ive tried them ALL and i think CHI has got to be the best of its kind and you shouldn't really waste money on an iron just because its cheap, you should be sure its going to work for youe
kind of hair, i have very thick and wavy hair, my sister has LONG nappy ass hair so a little of both worlds and it works wonders for us both. _smile.gif

i use to use my chi nano every single day and i got 5068190681806180 split ends even if i trimmed my hair regularly. anyhow, i have since then gotten smarter and now i get my hair permanently straighten. it's more expensive but it's so much more better then straightening daily. and it lasts a long time, i get mine re-straighten every summer and even when i get re-straighten, it's still really straight.

The one I use right now is a Revlon. It's rated one of the best flat irons. :D. My sister and I have way different hair. I have silky/straight and she has more of a rough type. It works wonders for both of our hairs. It's pretty cheap too, it's only about $30! You can get it at any Walgreens. I have another one that's Conair and it's pretty shitty. It never got hot enough to be able to straighten my hair. >__>. If you need help choosing a flat iron, you can always go to a local salon and ask them what's the best one (that's affordable). I'm sure they'll know.

I use a random Revlon one I picked up one day. I used to have a really expensive one that just stopped working for me. I got pissed off, threw it out and bought the cheapest one I could get at the drugstore. It works fine for me.

Then again, I only use a flat iron if I wake up and my hair looks like it's been through a windstorm. Otherwise, I prefer my hair to look more natural and to have a slight wave.

I think the only time you should spend a lot of money is on a curling iron. The same day I bought my current flat iron, I bought a curling iron too. It is a load of shit. I can let it stand there and heat up for as long as I want, but it will never be able to curl more than the bottom tips of my hair. Load of crap.

what is a hot comb?

a hot comb is something mostly people of ethnicity would use. it's a comb that is gold or cermanic or whatever it is made out of and it gets hot from a stove or a hair tool heater or now u can just plug it in.this is a hot comb

HAS ANYONE TRIED A CORLIOSS OR A SEDU STRAIGHTENER?

Had a CHI, but it died on me ... SO, I'm stuck with a crappy $20 Revlon straightener till I save enough for a Sedu.

i do think sedu straighteners are supposed to be the ultimate badasses. they're so sexy.

http://www.folica.com/appliances/straightener.htm
thar we go. top rated irons according to their customers at least... but it seems pretty reasonable.

i have a teflon/ceramic remington. it does the job, but it's not the best. paid $25 for it and retail i think is 40ish, so i'm all right.

My boyfriend's sister owns a hair salon and she was selling the Chi Nano. She gave me one for free for Christmas -- but I think she was selling them for $150+. Anyways, I've had my Chi Nano for over a year now and it hasn't died on me. I really like it because it's light, pretty looking, and does the job really well. Unfortunately there's no temperature adjustment, but that's only because it's not too hot or anything, and it seems hot enough. happy.gif

My hair's kind of straight, but now I cut it again (well, got it trimmed last month) and depending on how I sleep, my hair can pouf up, so I need to straighten the top, mainly. I used to straighten my hair every day, but then my hair felt really dry, so I stopped and now it feels a lot smoother.

If you're planning on buying a Chi, google up some online stores that sell it for a low price. It's pretty handy. :D

yeaa..i see what everyone is saying...but the Vidal's and the Hot Tool's just don't work for me. cuz here's the thing: it's my mom, my sister, and i who use the same flat iron and we all don't have the same type of hair so i have to have something worth the money. like i can go to target, cvs, wal*mart, walgreens or wherever and buy those flat irons for myself but i can't do it for my mom or my sister.
i def. want to try as a Sedu but money is tight.

now does this nano do the trick or controlling frizz pretty easily? because when i want to a salon about 8 months ago (long time, i kno) the stylist did my hair with one of those and i really didn't see a difference.

i just really want something that works and will not kill my air even after i really take care of it.

has anyone heard of GVP??? or GPV??

the best ones to use are the ones with the ceramic plates rather than metal. the metal damages your hair. iiii actually have NO clue what brand i use. LoL. i have a one inch one && a 3 inch one && they work great! next time im using one of em, i'll look at the brand && tell ya [yeah..im too lazy to get up && check LoL.]

Well it also depends on the product she uses with your hair. After she washes your hair, did she put some hair serum (i.e. paul mitchell super skinny serum) in your hair? It helps with drying and creates a coating on your hair that helps keep it from being roasted by the flat iron. Then you blow dry your hair or let it air dry. After you straighten your hair, make sure you put on another even amount of serum on your hair, as that will help flatten some of the frizz and smooth away the flyaways.

Honestly, I can't give you a good enough opinion since my hair is pretty straight, but it does have a slight wave to it (every since i cut it really short a while back). But the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum + Chi Nano worked really well with my hair. I guess I'm partial to my Chi Nano because I got it for free. eyebrowes.gif

I don't have a chi..
in fact I have a crappy flat iron but I really don't need alot of heat on mines...I have naturally straight hair but its gets a bit curly in the shower so thats when I use it..frizz is a problem for me but other than that I only use my straightner when I wanting the frizz to not kindas show...but like it matter I wear my hair in a cuter way than the lead singer off of the band "tokio hotel" bill....*drool*

But I know my friend uses the Chi, and I heard its pretty good, but pricey---->about $120 at the mall near my house. ph34r.gif

Oh man, I don't know how you can straighten your hair every day. sweating.gif It's damaging to your hair. I mean, I have to take breaks in between because my hair was starting to feel dry, even though I was using high quality hair products to protect it. I stopped straitening it for a while now and my hair feels a lot healthier.

But I need to start straightening it again because I've been sleeping with my hair wet, so it dries while I'm sleeping and often my hair gets really poofy in random places, so I wish I did straighten it. I would have, but I've been living at the BF's for quite some time now, and my straightener is at home. D:

I use a super crappy Revlon one because my hair is almost completely straight on its own when I take the care to blow it straight with a brush. I use it rarely, only when I sleep on my hair weird and there's a kink in it or something.

If you're Asian and have naturally straight hair, I think a better alternative than straightening often is to straighten out the hair via blowdrying - after all it's much less hot (although still damaging, but not quite as damaging).

i use Mark Hill/Morphy Richard's.
They're a second to GHDS (which i want so so much!) and i guess they're okay...but i've had them for nearly three years. and we straightened a gummy dolphin with them once, so i kind of need some new ones...

I use this one. It's really good.
I have other old straighteners too. I've had the Chii, Remington T-Studios, CVS...
This one's pretty much my favorite. Heats up in about 3-5 seconds. :)
