This topic is mainly a topic where you leave a comment on how you get hits for your website so other people can use these tips for their own website :)

Added onto anything internet related. Blogs, forums, myspace, etc...

If you want search engines to find it, you gotta call up your host and ask them for a plan upgrade, specifically a marketing plan (which will cost a lil more).

Join a Topsites program if you're just starting out. Blogrings and similar affiliate systems are also a good idea.

When I still had my site, the way I got a few thousand hits a day was because I had tons of affiliates and would update everyday. Try to update your site about once or twice a day (or every 2 days) and have a nice and organized layout. Also, bring up resources that haven't been brought up 10,000 times by other sites. Good luck with trying to get more hits. thumbsup.gif Also, don't forget to write interesting blogs about your life (people love to read about other people's lives haha), that is if there's something interesting to say =]. Remember to always blog about your life instead of talking about site related stuff all the time, but leave a little paragraph for all of your site updates (whenever you have them and you're blogging).

I write blogs from a differing perspective. They're a bit shorter than even I myself expect, but I only talk about what is interesting, and I only update when I have something good to say.

Try to affiliate a lot, but then again, tons of sites are extremely picky about who they want to affiliate - usually involving VERY good graphic skills or several hundred hits per day. Sad, because I only get approximately 20-40 unique visitors per day (more or less).

I also just post my link around a lot, hence the signature! _smile.gif

Pretty much what superficial (Vinity? _smile.gif) said. I mean, this is probably common sense, but it does take some time and effort to keep up with your site. Whether it be a blog, a new piece to your online portfolio, or a new Myspace layout in your resources, make sure to update it at least once or twice a week. It's really important that you be original. Try to avoid trends so that your site stands out more.
