I missed yet another day of university due to period cramps so severe I couldn't even move out of my bed.
The pain came in waves, made me feel physically sick, sent my legs numb and reduced me to a weeping pile of squealing woman even after wrapping myself in an electric blanket and swallowing pain killers from 6am to noon today. I get this once every few months, but I think it is because I am on a 35 day cycle (the average is 28 I believe) that makes it so bad. My mom wants me to see a doctor over this and I'm a little anxious to be honest. Has anyone else had anything similar to this? (If you have, you have my utmost sympathy). How have you dealt with it? |

If you think it's a cycle abnormality, you might want to consider the pill. I think I read a post you made about being opposed to the hormones and whatever, so I could be typing this in vain, but in all seriousness I virtually haven't had cramps at all since I got on it. The only other alternative, really, is to curl up in a ball with a heating pad if you have one, and eat aspirin.

I've have extreme severe cramps that caused me to not even go to school. Through my personal experience, once I came home and laid down to rest, on my tummy, the pain stopped. My mother also told me that if you take a hot shower when you're having horrible cramps, it'll make your stomach pain go away. It helps to relax the muscles Also, eating bananas can help lower the pains, putting a hot towel on your stomach helps, and try to drink less caffeine because that worsens the cramps.
I think you should see a doctor though because I've never had any leg numbness nor have I been extremely sick. It's good that you only get it every few months rather than having it every month. That would suck ass. I hope you can find out why your pain is so horribly bad. ![]() |

I don't like the idea of going on the pill; but if I have no other choice ![]() Superficial - I'll be sure to try out a few of those suggestions I haven't tried already! Thanks girls. Looks like a doctors jobby for me, then. |

Yeah, I have a really unfortunate memory. I have no problem remembering useless things like that, but I'll probably bomb all my midterms because I can't retain the things I need to.
