I would need to know your price range and what not for stores.
Try to avoid all of the touristy spots: Ground Zero, Ellis Island, Empire State etc. As a matter of fact, what I can do is, I will look up on the calendar what days those are, and give you some good spots to visit. |

Yeah, for sure. We're not going to any of those. I really want to find some good vintage stores, since the selection here pretty much sucks. |

TAKE ME WITH YOU
Umm...personally, I'd be hitting up the H&M, but you probably have those where you live. The last time I was in New York was on a band trip, so the only shopping I really go to do was at the South Street Seaport (nice, but like a mall, so probably not worth your time) and Chinatown. Lots of good bootlegs around both of those places, though. I really regret not getting a bag in Chinatown. And you definitely have to visit Greenwich Village. Ho hum. I don't know, it's been three years since I've been, and both of my trips that year were really restricted (as the one was with the band, and the other my family. I'm trying (and failing) to convince someone to go with me over Spring Break. |

Yeah, for sure. We're not going to any of those. I really want to find some good vintage stores, since the selection here pretty much sucks. Definitely hit up Soho, and Christopher street in the village. The village as a whole is good, but Christopher tends to have some really good gets. Where exactly will you be staying? I can definitely offer some good restaurants while you are here. As well, if you are into halal food at all, you must hit up 53rd and sixth. Eddie put me onto that. |

No no, it was me with the burgers lol. Michelle, since you will be here during the week, it will be easier for you to move between 10 and 4 and then between 6 30 and 6 a.m. Other than that, I would be sleeping. Is this your first time to the city?

Just that if you are going to be moving on the subways or by cabs, it tends to be easier to access both during those time frames. Rush hour is a beast here if you are not used to it. H&M is good over here, and the one I like is in Herald Square. I must admit, that the mall at herald square is horrible, but the shops in the area, are to die for.

Shake Shack (Madiseon Square Park), Say Cheese (45th Street), Broadway/Soho (YELLOW RAT BASTARD, Antique Orange for funky edgy brands and since your title is Miss DIY, this area also has tons of fabric stores with really interesting additional things like beads and peacock feathers). Hey... that's my Spring Break too.
If you're going and want to maximize the fun, forget the tourist traps like Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty. Get a metrocard for the day. Do not drive. Go to 5th ave and the area around Rockefeller Center. The rules are keep moving, or gtfo of the way, unless you want to be trampled. Laugh at the 9/11 conspiracy people who try to sell bumper stickers to you. Move on to SoHo. Do not use a car. From there, go to Ching Chang Chong Canal Street China Town. Do not take a car there. Only black people do that. The black people will honk at you and yell GODDAMN CHINKS, but just ignore them. They know they can't run you over, and if they tried, they would be hopelessly outnumbered. |

- st. mark's; the whole area is full of good food/ good vintage stores
- soho: uniqlo! + all the shops on spring st. - 5th ave starting from 59th down to around 42nd: all the 'rich' stores - pinkberry in ktown (32nd between 6th and 5th) - tebaya: awesome little japanese joint with THE BEST japanese chicken wings, you must try! on 19th between 6th and broadway - i'd recomment chinatown for food, not really for shopping. you could find awesome cheap crap, but that's only if you're really looking. |

- 5th ave starting from 59th down to around 42nd: all the 'rich' stores Yeah, there's an H&M somewhere in the 40's and 5th Avenue. I don't know how good it is since I've never been inside it, but there's also one at Herald Square. Also, if you want to make time for a museum, go to the MoMA: 11 West 53rd Street between 5th and 6th Avenues. :) <33 |

Very colorful, haha Its not fun if your going with parents. You have to go with a big group of friends, thats the best =] The things where you just sit there and listen to how a megaphone works is boring as hell. And the rest is fun for a time being and then you look back and say, "Wow, that was the stupidest museum i have ever been to" |

^It takes forever to get to Queens. I use to go to the marina/bay for dragonboat practice and it took 2 hours from Brooklyn to Flushing. Yes, get a one day fun pass metrocard. It's only 7 dollars (hopefully, unless the MTA raised shit again) and you can go everywhere. You'll have to get a new one everyday though. Ktown is a good recommendation. It's near Herald Square so you got Manhattan mall and the giant Macy's. Ktown has PINKBERRY and a ton of karaoke places which are really fun. A little bit away is B&H, which is like J&R electronics except a lot cheaper. Central Park! I don't think anyone has said Central Park. Coney Island in Brooklyn. I'm not sure if it's open season yet but it's getting torn down so go there and see the place. Don't go on the Cyclone unless you're like Claire Bennett and can regenerate. In Chinatown, if you want Bubble tea, go to TEN REN'S. It's a bit pricey but it has amazing quality tea. I want to go homeeeeeeee. I miss NYC. |

This B&H sounds interesting. For anybody that is into tea, Tavalon is a good place in Union Square to hit up. It's a bit far away from the 34th and Herald Square. It's like on 9th Ave and 33rd/34th St. Their hours of operation are weird so check their website before you go. It's HUGE. And there are great discounts. They want to knock down Astroland but keep the Cyclone and Wonder Wheel so they can revamp that area to be more high class. Aka, new malls and new condos and hotels to provide you know, the Brooklynite view for tourists. |

GET PIZZA Rays Pizza, Adrienne's Pizzabar on Pearl Street as well as a few others. Damn I need to take notes <_< We are DEFINITELY not driving a car, and yes I have been in rush-hour crowded areas before. Ok good, as long as you know about rush hour, you are good. Since you can't possibly hit up all of these spots in the days you will be here, I would say as far as Manhattan goes, Union Square, Herald Square, The Village, Soho, and 53rd and 6th are must see spots. shit. that's when my spring break is! go to the MAC pro store there. and let me ask my friend about this bar in the village. apparently they don't card and have good drinks. Yes, please let us know of this bar! |

i think a lot of the bars in the village, esp around st. mark's are cheap with good drinks. i can't specify any 'cause they're all about the same. as restaurant wise goes, i do like kenkas... they serve drinks there, too.
also, if you're up for it, visit the time warner mall at 59th. i like the samsung store ;P |

Rays Pizza There's like ONE MILLION and ONE Ray's Pizza. I wonder what the real one is... EDIT: So after some Googling: The VERY VERY first Ray's Pizza was run by Ralph Cuomo who got arrested for heroin making: 27 Prince Street. The Ray's Pizza that people copycat: 6th Avenue and 11th Street. So if you're gonna go to any Ray's Pizza, it should be those two. |

You should also go to Ray's Pizza because it was in Ted Leo's "Me and Mia" video (I annoyed several people by shouting my recognition on the bus the last time I was in the city).

The Ray's on sixth is crazy, and the halal spot i.e. 53RD and 6TH is right down the street from it. Also, if anyone should ever venture into NJ, there is this pizza place called Benny Tudinos in Hoboken.....I can't even describe how good that pizza is! |

You should deffinatly hit up the manhattan mall on 6th av and 33rd street. Not sure if some body already said that (lol). And also maybe take the time out to see a broadway play. But a MUST do is to go around the central park area and take a horse and buggy ride on the street its very fun. Have a nice time!

^ a lot of the stores closed, and a couple of weeks ago, a lot of their basement floor and main floor stores closed, like brookstone, blades, and this one awesome japanese smoothie place ;[. they barely have anything there now. express and express men, jimmyz, and probably aeropostale are their only good stores, but those type of stores you can see anywhere ;o

You can meet Nick! Yes, you can! <- Personal tour guide. The manhattan mall is really really terrible now. I used to love that place but now it's not even worth going. Everything's closed and there's never anyone there.. and the architecture itself is depressing :(. Queens Center is where it's at, it's the bomb. There's SO much going on there. Must see! |

Michelle, try for a Broadway show. Normally they are like mad expensive. But you can rush for tickets. Here are the instructions:

NYC! I go to college there, so maybe I can come up with some things.
- Definitely try to see Rent, since it's closing in June. - Museums are always fun. I know they're free for students in NYC, but I'd bring any student ID just in case. There's a Museum of Sex that has a hentai exhibit which I think is a little weird and possibly a bit sketch, but I've been planning to go for a while. - Shopping: 5th ave, of course, then places between 34th and 42nd on Broadway. - South St. Seaport - there's a mall there, then there's also the Bodies Exhibit which is a lot better than the one that was in Houston for a bit. - St. Marks. I've never been, but my roommate loves going there. Lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. - Club Row (west 27th) if you're into that. There's a lot of 18+ clubs if you're not 21 yet. - Bleecker St. has a lot of cheap poster/thrift/record stores. - Lincoln Center - also lots of shopping (there's a mall) and you can try to see a few concerts. - Union Square - movies, some shopping, some clubs, etc. - Little Italy, Chinatown, etc. - in Chinatown, there's Canal st. if you're into knock-offs and cheap shit. - Jing Fong (on Chinatown) has AMAZING dim sum for a really good price. hm. yeah. have fun! |

^They're closing Rent? T.T NO WAYYY I have to rush it before it closes.
Chinatown recommendations: -Chinatown Ice Cream Factory -Elizabeth center for mad asian trinkets and other stuff. It's always fun to poke your head in there to see what kinda stuff they have -Either Joe Shanghai's (9 Pell Street http://www.joeshanghairestaurants.com/) or Goodies (1 E Broadway at Chatham Square). Both are essentially the same but my father said that the original owner/chef either started from Goodies or left Joe's to start Goodies. I recommend the soup dumplings (it's under appretizers on the menu) especially the crab meat and pork steamed/soup buns. Amazing. It's seriously some of the best outside of Shanghai. |

Yay, you took my suggestion! xD Actually.. we didn't end up going T_T Yeah... I stayed up way too late to wake up in time to ride into the city with my parents, so out of luck this time. Yeah, I heard you were happy you didn't b/c it was raining. God... raining at Times Square = HELL. I wanted to die as I trudged through idiots... -_- I was so angry I stormed through a crowd with my umbrella and almost poked their eyes out. ^_^ - By the way, to anyone who cares, I saw Avenue Q. It was interesting to see puppet sex on stage. |
